Had a bunch of auctions end on Sunday and have gotten paid for most with PayPal. However, 9 out of 10 of these buyers have "Unconfirmed" PayPal addresses. I usually don't pay too much attention if it's not a really high-priced item, but why do so many of them have unconfirmed addresses? Is there something new going on or just a coincidence? And should I really be too terribly concerned accepting payments from unconfirmed addresses? Maybe I've just been lucky sending to the unconfirmed before. Thoughts??

There was a long thread a while back about this, and some sellers' PayPal records were showing them unconfirmed as well. The problem seemed to be that when people got a new or updated credit card, PayPal was calling the address unconfirmed. At least, this is what I recall of the thread's messages.

When I drove, I never had an accident in 30 years -- but I still bought CAR INSURANCE, even in states where it twern't required.
I've almost never have had any problems with PayPal either (since 1999) -- but I sure ship ONLY TO CONFIRMED USA ADDRESSES! (unless the amount is paltry)...
The one time a pretzel-choker tried to pull the "I didn't receive my Swedish Stretcher" on me thru a PayPal complaint, I immediately sent the required info to PayPal, & they decided in my favor overnight!
What is yer risk tolerance?
Mine is veeeeery LOW!

Roadsmith has a good memory. I was one of the many that updated their credit card info (new expiration date). When you do that, you automatically become unconfirmed even though all of your other info stays the same. Just another way for PayPal to screw sellers and buyers out of more money.
