Hello,

I need some ideas on which Sony Mavica to buy.

I love my 5 year old MVC-FD90. I bought an Olympus to replace it about a year ago, but have yet to use the "new" one. I use it strictly for eBay. It's so simple to use and download via floppys that I'll probably look for another of the Mavicas that use a floppy when this one dies. The charger plugs into the camera, so when the battery dies, I just plug it in and keep shooting.

I don't know what newer models use the floppy, but if it's for eBay use, I'd look into it.

Didn't Sony discontinue the Mavica line?

I have the 73 and love it. Friends of mine, on my advice, have gotten one and they're thinking of finding another, if they can, as a spare.

I just check ebay auctions, there are plenty available, with an average selling price of $100.00 +/-.

Yes sparkz ... i think they are discontinued as far as finding one in a local store today ... but there are many on ebay, new in box, or used very little ...

I have a Mavica FD 73, love it. I'm thinking of buying another on eBay for when this one goes.

I had a Lexus, but traded it for the Mavica, cause it takes better pictures.

My first camera I got for eBay Was the Mavica FD100 brand new from Wally World and I lucked up on a used Mavica FD85 at a yard sale for 30.00 (my back-up) They both are awesome the only different between the two are you have to hold down the button a little longer on the FD85. Sony Mavica are great long lasting camera's...I think any model will make you happy.

I have an FD 83 that I purchased probably 8 years ago now? Except for replacing the battery, it works as well as the day I got it. Definitely one of the best investments for my business I have made. I'm on computer #5, but digital camera #1

I have a Mavica MVC-FD75. Had it for 5 years and never replaced the battery. I love the floppy. I have seen some other brands that take some great pictures also. I hope I never have to replace it, but it is getting that the new computers don't have the floppy function. They just have a slot for the card. If you want the floppy function you have to buy that extra.

I started with an FD-100

Then went to an FD-75 ( LOVE the zoom) Used it for about a year or so and had to have a CD-400. The "deal" was that after I got the CD-400, I would sell the FD-75. Didn't happen, I still have it and use it occasionally.

I want the new 8mp F-828 I am going to keep the CD-400 for personal use. I really like the cdrw and don't think they make it any longer

Still using my FD71 which I bought at a camera shop in 1999 (I think). Have bought 2 new batteries so far on e-bay. The first one is still good and is made by Sony. The 2nd is a China made Sony compatible with 5 hrs run time and no memory. This camera is great for ebay and I would not have anything else but not for other purpuses.

I have a Sony Mavica but I'm too lazy this second to get up and see what kind...it is so old and big though that whenever my kids see me taking photos with it they ask, "What are you videoing mommy?" It sure takes gorgeous photos though.

"glassgrl"...I was recently told by someone very wise that a "floppy" is a hard square thingie buried deep inside your computer drawer and it doesn't even 'flop.'
