Hi everyone. I haven't posted here before, but I've looked through a lot of threads and I couldn't find this particular issue.
Please bear with me; it is a bit complicated to explain. Sorry!
Ebay introduced the new EOA notices with the huge pay now via paypal button in them. They are meant to take the place of the Paypal EOA notices. I specifically never used the Paypal ones, because I want buyers to use MY checkout, not go through Paypal directly. Since the inception of these new notices last week, none of my buyers have used my vendio checkout.
Or my merchant account.
So, I tried not checking off Paypal as a payment method accepted and just inserting it using SMIE for each product manually. That worked in that paypal was shown in my descriptions, but not in the Ebay payment section. So, the EOAs did not go out from ebay and the big paypal checkout button wasn't put in my listings at closing.
However, once a buyer added on at my vendio checkout, vendio removed paypal as a payment option. This is because the only way to remove the paypal stuff IN EBAY is to remove it from Global preferences, which thus removes it from your Vendio checkout/store. So, buyers that buy one item can pay via paypal, but anyone that buys more than one item, which is then combined into a Vendio order, cannot use paypal.
I've asked about this in the Vendio services forums, but I don't think they understand my problem. But, I am starting to think that using Checkout Redirect is my only option. I get a lot of up-sells through my Vendio store, plus I prefer buyers use my merchant account, so I need my ebay buyers to use my Vendio checkout.
Does anyone use checkout redirect? Do your buyers complain about being "forced" to use your checkout? Prior to the new Ebay EOA notices, quite a large % of my buyers used my checkout, but I am afraid that being "forced" to do so may tick them off a bit.

I'm probably one of those problem buyers you are afraid of. I'm not going to be redirected to a 3rd party site to pay for an item, I expect to receive an invoice through ebay, or where I can log into my paypal account to pay. I won't be rude to a seller who tried to send me to another site, I just advise them I would prefer to pay directly with paypal and to invoice me through ebay. I haven't had any say no (though I am not a huge buyer on ebay these days, mostly sell)

I have had nothing but complaints about any checkout system. I no longer and haven't in a long time had anyone use a check out system. I always send a personal e-mail with easy to follow instructions. I have a template with purchase info and all I have to do is fill in the prices. I as well want people to use my merchant account for credit cards. Checkout systems are a big turn off for customers and they tend to not give return business if they are forced to use them.
Good luck which ever path you decide.

Vendio Checkout Redirect; Do ebayers hate it?
In a word, YES!
With so many websites running trash scripts, I do not click on anything that I am not familiar with.
If I win an auction, I pay directly thru Paypal. If that is not an option, I send a check snail mail. But 9 x out of 10, if I have to go to the trouble of writing a check, I don't bid.
There is just nothing left out there that I need bad enough to make an effort.

See, that is why I never have done the checkout re-direct or FORCED my buyers to use my checkout. I would rather give them a choice.
Ebay has made that next to impossible now.
I am a bit frustrated that just because I offer Paypal as ONE payment method, every one of my buyers gets an invoice from ebay (that I cannot turn off) telling them to pay via Paypal.
So, I either have to not offer paypal at all (not a good idea) or do checkout re-direct (probably not a good idea) or have no one use my check-out at all (not a good idea as I rely on those up-sells AND I prefer my merchant account over paypal)

Use the redirect. The vast majority of people could not care less and it makes your life easier. If someone does not want to use the redirect they will either go directly to PayPal themselves or contact you and let you know that they thik that you are a horrible evil rotten person for making them enter their address into a new form but I doubt you'll get more than two of those a month and isn't the trade off (fee savings) worth it?
You are absolutely correct about wanting to keep your upsell abilities. I have the same items in my Work store as I have in my eBay store. The only difference is that the items are actually higher in my Works store but with the redirect and the targeted upsell choices I get about a 10% upsell through redirected checkout.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
