Do you think that not having postage included in a listing could prevent buyers from bidding? I know that I usually ask sellers before bidding if it isn't mentioned in the auction, but do you think people would overlook an auction because postage is not listed and it is too much effort to ask?

I've noticed the USPS calculator in many auctions, but is there a way to set up the USPS postage calculator through Vendio? Or is this only possible when launching directly through eBay? I've used Zontalizer postage calculators in the past, but is there a quicker way through Vendio?

Thanks for any guidance on this one.

I always list the postage costs on each and every listing followed by my PO box address to send the payment.

I no longer get the "how much to ship" and "where do I send payment" questions.

If the item is under a pound I list the dollar amount - if not I use Vendio calculator which allows you to add handling to the shipping.
If it's a really big item (furniture) - I let them email me and they usually do.
Vendio's is good and automatic but it doesn't transfer to paypal if that makes sense. Still it's worth it to add it.

I use flat rate S & H charge. Never less than $5.00. If the item (items) weigh more than 4 lbs., I ship by FeEx Ground al else goes Priority Mail.

If no flat fee or other shipping information is given, it sends up a red flag. If it was something small, I might overlook it and still bid, and if at all unsure, would email (although I really resent having to send an email to ask something that should have been in the listing).

Being both buyer and seller, I am automatically suspicious of someone who does not list this information. I feel like I might be asked to subsidize the eBay fee increases.

Of course, there is at least one seller whose auction listings inform me that "they don't do their own packing, and they take it to Mailbox USA and they charge a lot". Granted they are up front about it, but it is not going to encourage me to bid high.

BTW, I offer flat rate for US shipping.

Flat rates don't work for me as I live in Florida. I don't think it's fair to have someone in Ga pay the same as Calif (well really the USPS doesn't think it fair)but I won't charge $9.00 to that Ga customer just to cover the cost if it ends up going to Calif. I love the calculator and use it in all my auctions unless it weights less than a pound.

If shipping costs aren't stated, I simply won't bid.

If you want bids, be specific about your shipping charges.

For heavier items you can alway use the shipping calculator, which encourages bidders closer to you.

Same here, I've been burned (a long time ago) so if there is no indication of shipping (a shipping calculator is fine) I just back out and don't bother asking the seller. When I do buy (which isn't much these days) I tend to do so at the end of the auction, so there isn't time to ask a question anyway

As we only ship international (no domestic sales as we get an export subsidy/tax break) it's flat rate shipping for all our listings and website sales. Makes it easier for bidders/buyers too.

cta, I think you asked if there was a way to put a calculator in the vendio site, right?? I did not see an answer to that yet.
I hope there is.

I have sold on ebay since 1998, how can you post postage charges in advance if you do not know where the buyer is??
To me over charging for postage is worse than just saying actual postage charged or state you handling fees if any.

I post a flat rate shipping cost on all my auctions and how I will be shipping the item. As a Buyer if I look at an auction with no shipping rates listed in the auction I hit the back button. I will NOT e-mail a Seller for that.

I don't list the shipping amounts for heavier items. I do however give an e-mail link to e-mail me with their zip codes so it can be figured. It works well for me and the bids keep on coming.

If a seller doesn't list the shipping cost of something I really want (and it's ending soon) I check their feedback...it'll let me know if it's safe to bid anyway.
If I have time , I email....can't pass up a good deal just because sending an email is so darn labor intensive.

Priority Mail now has Flat Rate Boxes for $7.70.

Add me to the flat rate cover all the bases group (the seemingly larger one). I also won't bid if no shipping is disclosed -- too many surprises there.

But even when I clearly state how much shipping is... I STILL GET THE QUESTIONS OF "How much to ship to this zip code..."
