Last year, I bought a Limoges platter (this is example) for $6. Found out it was originally bought for $32.50 - 20 years ago, and now valued at about $25 (est).

Ok, so I've been trying to sell this thing everywhere. On Ebay, Bidville, start auction price at $6 (example), no sales.

So this week, I put it on Ebay again, dropped the start auction price to 2.99 (example). Getting a lot of traffic.

Question: Would you add a reserve at $4? Right now, I just want my money back...don't care if it sells at the bought price or not.

Reserves act as a barrier to bidding. It doesn't make sense to pay extra fees in order to hope for an additional $1.01 in bid price, which you may not get anyhow.

You say "Limoges", is there any name on the backstamp? Sayin Limoges Is like saying GMC. Limoges is an area, not a company. Just saying Limoges will not sell to a collecter. Must have a mfrs name.

Salgal, I'd say it is time to yard sale the darn thing!

If I expect to get under $10 it, it is hardly worth relisting after the second time.

Have you bothered adding up the fees you have invested in it? your time is worth $0 when you use it trying to sell cheap items multiple times.

Cut your losses. If it sells for a buck, you will be better off than having it around eating up mind power and shelf space.

JUST lET IT GO AND FORGET ABOUT IT!

I have a "special" place for items like this, it is called Goodwill.

I had a ball last fall yard selling the ebay items that didn't sell. Most of them were bought by people I know to be Ebay sellers. I just had to laugh each time one of them walked off with their treasure. Maybe they will have better luck with it than I did, but I was just glad to get it out of my house. Now I have room for more stuff that WILL sell on eBay.

I had a small Limoges Haviland platter that just didn't sell. I kept it for some of my earrings on my dresser. If I hadn't needed it for something, I'd have donated it after two tries at selling on Ebay and taken what I considered an honest value for the donation.

Thanks Roady. This is the last time I enter in an auction.
Thought Limoges had more value.
Next time -- know what I'm buying!
