I have a question for those of you who use dial-up. When someone puts their images into an auction do the images load all at once? Or do they load one at a time? In other words, it if put 3 pictures in an auction and have them crunched down to 10 seconds per image, does it take 30 seconds to download all of the images, or does it take 10 seconds to download them all? Thanks!

They download at the same time, but that doesn't mean that they will appear at the same exact moment.

They will load one at a time. Only problem is they don't completely load one at a time. It will download part of one picture, then part of another and go back to the first one for a while and so forth. And if it has too many pictures, it will time out and stop loading pictures all together. This is one of the main reasons to crop your photo's.

I only have about 4 or 5 images in my auction and they seem to load all at once.

Depends on the browser. Some browsers load the images sequentially, while others load in parallel. To speed up page loading time use image optimization i.e. crop out extraneous matter, shrink to optimal (clear size where detail is apparent if used) size. Do remember to place your eBay id on images so competitor can't "borrow" them inadvertently.

Bizzy are you talking about uploading from your computer or downloading your pictures in your auctions? I answered it one way and when I saw download I thought you meant to your auctions.

If you are talking about uploading I only upload approximately 7-10 a time because my dial up shuts off if it shows I am not doing anything and if my images are big it takes awhile.

It is the thing that doesn't cost $60.00 per month. I would love either DSL or Cable, but either way in my area its $60.00 per month. It is simply hard to jsutify when I am paying only $7.95 per month now.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I keep my images to 10 seconds and like to put 4 to 5 images (but no more). This is for my sales over in the UK. With my sales in the US, I use Vendio for my templates. I can use the "click here to supersize picture" in the UK sales, but the images are so small and then the bidder would have to click and wait 10 seconds to see a larger size. If they all load at once without the "click here" button, I would rather do that.

Stone-If that all it costs you,I entirely agree.I guess it depends on where you live what the costs will be.In my situation, our phone bill was on an average $24.00 a month.Since I was on the internet so much,my wife was tired of having our phone lines tied up so much.So I had to get a second phone line which was another $17.00 a month, for a total of $37.00.I got DSL for $42.00 a month, which for me was a no-brainer.Also I take it you dont download music off the internet, which dial up is a joke.
I dont download music myself since you have to pay for it.Id rather copy cds and sell the original cd back on Ebay and the songs will cost me practically nothing.Thats one reason I
dont have an IPOD,which I would love to get. From what I take it,you cant download from your cd player directly.

Wrong.
All you have to do is copy the CD to iTunes, a free music management program from Apple. Then, when you plug your iPod into your computer, iTunes automatically opens and updates your iPod with any new music you've added. And yes, you can get iTunes for Win-doze too. In fact, it probably comes with your iPod if you're a MS user. HP bundles it with their custom branded iPods.

no more excuses classic...go get an iPod. You'll love it..
