Comcast is being sued for Giving Customer Info to RIAA. (Recording Industry Association of America.)

Comcast, the top U.S cable TV network operator, is being sued by a woman for disclosing her name and contact to RIAA, court records showed Thursday.

The company, Settlement Support Center, was using information obtained from RIAA and contacted the woman in January and told her to pay a $4,500 fine for downloading illegal music or face a lawsuit for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"But no court authorized Comcast to release names and addresses of its customers, or notified his client that her information had been given to an outside party. Comcast should respect the rights of privacy who pay them monthly bills." Lybeck said.

There is NO privacy on the Internet and anyone who thinks there is, is a fool IMO. What she did was illegal and she got caught. So, now she's suing Comcast because she got caught performing an illegal act? IMO, she deserves the fine.

Why should it be ok for comcast to give riaa any information they want? This wasn't a felony crime.

I hope she wins, she has already been fined for her illegal activity.

Now comcast should get theirs.

Maybe so, Ron, but your private information is sold everyday. If you expect to do something illegal over the Internet and get away with it you are sadly mistaken. Since I don't know what Comcast's privacy agreement states, I can't make a real judgement there. My main point is that Big Brother is watching you so you'd better hope he likes what he sees.
