I'll be putting eBay "on hold" tonight so I can watch "The High and the Mighty". The only time I've seen it was when it first came out and it definitely left an impression on my young mind. I hope it's not a disappointment but I can hardly wait!

I am taping it (to keep) but am a dinosaur and don't own any of the fancy schmancy high-tech stuff. The trusty VCR is good enough for me...for now anyway.
I know they're new-fangled and all, but I can honestly say that ReplayTV (and my new Comcast DVRs) made TV watchable for me again. I couldn't stand commercials (typically 20 minutes per hour show), and most of the things I wanted to watch were on when I couldn't be there (putting kids to bed, for example), or I would forget when they would be on, or two things I was interested on were on at the same time.
I have a cell phone without a camera or PDA. I don't have a navigation system in my car. I don't have an alarm system in my home. I don't need that stuff, but I couldn't watch TV without a DVR.
A significant side benefit is that I can control what the kids watch much better, and can insist that they skip commercials (especially around Christmas).
But anyway, enjoy your show. Then, tomorrow, find out if your cable/satellite provider offers a DVR. If you're watching off-air, you can probably get a good price on a ReplayTV or Tivo right here on eBay.

Back to eBay-ing. The movie held up well after 50 years...was still good. Movies are such a nice time-capsule into the past...Not a pair of jeans in sight...everyone was puffing away and no words I wouldn't want a 6 year old to hear. Do I sound old?
