Saw this and thought it was an interesting read. Scary about the phoney check making website.........
Bad Day eBay Gets Even Worse For One Seller
Transaction go bad on a daily basis at eBay but this one is the worst I’ve ever heard. I pasted it here because the report came from a site which asks you input some information.
... The transaction seemed simple enough. Tate Chesley, 33, of Anchorage sold his Dell laptop to Kyle Nonneman, a 20-year-old Portland man who snapped it up on eBay by posting the high bid. Nonneman e-mailed a check for $2,300. Chesley packed up the laptop and shipped it off to Portland. But Nonneman’s check bounced, Chesley later told federal agents. And, he said, Nonneman refused to settle the bill or return the computer......

That prety much sums it up. A seller who is so dazzled by the sight of money that he throws caution, and common sense, to the wind. How do you email a check, other than through the crooked front company that was discussed in a previous thread? Why would a seller even think about shipping an item with that much involved until he had the cash securely in hand?

What an idiot seller - what is bad about these types of stories is that it makes it looks like Ebay is such a dangerous place, fraud lurking around every corner. If you just use an ounce of common sense, things like this wouldn't happen. I do applaud the idiot seller in question for getting on that airplane and going to get his computer back. I like to think the good guys win in the end.
