cblev there is a CD seller on eBay (Jay and Marie I think) that ships after the auction is over, they just ask that you send payment as well. I don't know if they still do it but when I bought a CD from them that's what they did.
Work on the honesty system. Not me. I don't ship until I get paid.

Before I left on vacation 10 days ago I shipped everything whether payment had been received or not. I think everyone has paid me now for those items (and there were about 100 that hadn't been paid before I left). This is the second time I tried out pre-shipping and both times I have been pleased with the results.
I would only do this with low ticket items (like postcards) and only if it worked better in my workflow.

Here's one I received this week for an ad for a VHS Movie/Tape set.
"Are these movies you can you play in the VCR?"

I keep getting How much is shipping to....I have the shipping listing in all my auctions in the description as well as in the TOS. I charge a flat rate on most of my auctions.

My two experiences have been bad when shipping before payment. Both buyers took forever to make good on payment. Both had requested immediate shipment as they were Christmas presents so I obliged (this was in my early selling days).
Finally got paid when the Postal Inspectors notified package recipients/buyers that they may be in possession of fraudulently obtained property. Then had numerous emails asking how to make immediate payment - guess the image of Federal jail time focused their minds

THE dumbest e-mail I ever received was one E-MAILED to me which said, and I kid you not:
"IF you would send me your e-mail address, I'd respond to your question.!!!"
******************************
As I just shared in another thread, I am up to my gills with stupid, time wasting e-mails. So this is what we have done:
***********************************
NO MORE E-MAIL’S Between eBay, a major specialty auction, and 3 commercial web sites, we get literally hundreds of e-mails per day, 99% of which the answer to the question is within the post.
We do answer the QUESTIONS posted to us on eBay and Yahoo.
I cannot keep up with doing anything but answering e-mails with the volume ours has risen to; so last week, I posted this note on all of our e-mail auto-responds for our e-mail addresses:
Quote “OVER THE PAST YEAR, we have gotten more and more inundated with e-mails; WHICH, normally, the answers can be found within our AUCTION POST OR WEB SITE. WE JUST CAN NOT possibly respond to this continual avalanche of e-mail and get product posted, shipped and mailed.
IF you have an important question, or need, please call our office at: (1-555-555-4989) between 10:15AM and 5:45PM, (CENTRAL TIME).
Sorry, we have had to go to this procedure, but because we are getting 100’s of e-mails per day, 99% of which are ALREADY answered on our web sites or in our auction postings, we have just had to stop responding to individual e-mails.
We appreciate your patronage and understanding in this matter.”unquote
We will see how this works – I know trying to keep up with the landslide of e-mail certainly is not working, and is taking up 90% of my time.
Yes, I remember the “good ole days,” when an e-mail a day was exciting, but that was 10 years ago.
Naturally, the note is politely signed, etc.
I know a seller on a major specialty auction site who clearly posts in ALL of her ads that she will not answer any e-mail, and it does not seem to have hurt her sales at all – and she has been active on this particular auction for at least 3 or more years; and yes, her sales are high.
