I have two BIN items that have about a day left. One has 13 watchers and the other 5 watchers. Does anyone know ...

What are they waiting for?????

Probably to see what or if they sell. A lot of watchers have the same item and want to see if it is worth listing.

As in the Samuel Beckett play.."Waiting for Godot"???

Two guys basically waiting for a man (at least we assume it's a man though maybe it's God) named "Godot" who doesn't come. The end of the play pretty much sums it up:

" Vladimir: Well, shall we go?
Estragon: Yes, let's go."

But they don't move.

And I guess that's what the watchers are waiting for...and usually they don't move either.

Bizzy - I have the same thing with my store items - it drives me nuts! Are they waiting to see if I lower the price or send it auction? That's the only reason I could think of to do that.

Same here, some people must have had watches on some of my store items for months. I listed a pattern a few weeks ago, got 6 watches, no bids. Relisted, got 5 watches, closed last night with no bids. I guess some people just like watching our auctions. The funny thing is, I had an auction close last night with 6 bids, 3 different bidders that never had a watch. I guess the watches really don't mean too much.

Neglus,

Just wanted you to know that at least one person (me) got a chuckle out of your godot comment.

Probably putting on their watch list, and seeing if they can find such cheaper.

Sometimes I watch an item just out of curiosity to see if it will sell and for how much (regular auction or BIN). I have no intention of buying, just watching. Then sometimes I also watch auctions to see how they'll do if I'm thinking of buying or selling a similar or identical item.

Some of my auctions can have 15 watchers and only two or three bidders.

Here is an example of why so many are watching. A few months ago I was watching an odd tool that I own being sold by another seller. It sold for over $300.00 I put mine of a few minutes later with a buy it now of $295.00 and emailed the back up bidder to tell him about my auction. He purchased mine within an hour. By the end of 24 hours there were 5 of these tools on eBay. The last one sold for $60.00

By the way I bought the one for $60.00 and will wait awhile and try it all over again.

toolhound -- I thought we weren't allowed to do this on Ebay. I thought this was considered auction interference because even though the auction was finished, the seller *may* have another one or two items to offer a second chance.

I thought it wasn't allowed because it's spam. But that obviously doesn't mean that people don't do it.

I have been doing it for years and have never had a problem. Far as I know as long as the auction they were bidding on is completed it is not a problem. You can't email them and offer to sell off eBay.
