I am a sucker for these puppy postcards (probably cuz my dog is on the geriatric side). I can't tell what breed these cuties are - they look like German Shorthairs or Springer Spaniel pups to me - any ideas which or am I way off? Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing the Springer Spaniel because the shading on the back of a couple. Too bad you can't see Momma.

I would say German Short Hair Pointers because of all that liver colored ticking which is not a feature in Springers. Also, I see a lot of wrinkles which would mean the pups have a lot of growing to do.

I was going to go with german from all the freckles but their muzzles are too short. I'm going with Sanmar on this one, Springers.

Not to mention ooh so damn cuddly looking!!

muzzles have a lot of wrinkles. Shouldn't they grow to smooth out those wrinkles?

Those are definitely German Shorthair Pointers.
Springers have longer ears and more hair (soft fuzz) at that age.

Cute card.

German Shorthaired Pointers. Springers, even the field breds, should have some fuzz at that age, especially on the ears and they shouldn't have wrinkled faces. You can also see the roaning coming in a couple of the pups--roaning is very rare in Springers though ticking is common, especially in field breds--but even heavy ticking won't be as visible on a spaniel as it is on these babies until they're a little older than these appear to be. Heads are the wrong shape for Springers, and the rear angulation on the one puppy where it shows isn't spaniel-ish.

Thanks all - I went with German Shorthair Pointer in title and mentioned Springer in description.

They are adorable - but need a LOT of exercise! My neighbor has one and it is still bouncy at 3 years old!

Sure looks like my cousin's newest family member "Marcus" who is a German Shorthair Pointer. Awww...isn't he a cutie?

Neglus - any field dog needs a good run regularly or they get a bit nutsy and destructive. My parents have an 8 year old Brittany that still has the energy of a puppy... she gets a long walk and plenty of squirrel treeing time each day but on the weekend she gets to go out to the field and run to hearts delight (and her aging muscles displeasure). She'll go for hours if you let her. (and be very docile the next day)

Of course in two months she'll have to put those little webbed paws of hers to good use. Not a lot of fields on the Texas coast line but she will have a dock with a ramp built just for her in her back yard.

CTA - What a GREAT expression on that face.

Did you notice that the pups in the foto all have their tails cropped / chopped off! I HATE that. Yep, those are german short haired pointers.
