On Oct. 4th I purchased a Child's Dress for 10.50 + 4.10 Shipping total 14.60
I didn't receive it yet and the seller tells me that she mailed it, she gave me a tracking number she used paypal to make out the label.
She told me it sometimes takes a long time for it to arrive.......lol
This is Oct 18th I think I should have received it by now it was sent priority Mail.
I didn't put insurance on the item.
Do I just forget about it or is there anything I should do. I buy lots of things but this is the first time the item didn't arrive.
Any suggestions would help.

Well, what does the tracking show? USPS doesn't usually show much, but perhaps it was scanned somewhere along the line.

Simply go into your Paypal account and file for "Item Not Received" under the Buyer Protection Policy. Make sure DC shows it has not been delivered first.

The tracking number shows the following:
The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on October 05, 2005 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date.
I'm a seller also and when I make out my shipping label with Stamps.com the same thing shows up until the package actually arrives at the destination.
If I go into paypal and open a complaint what kinda results is possible, do you have any idea.

This happens to me as a seller, nothing is scanned, etc. My advice is to dispute this in paypal, unless the item shows as delivered, you will get your money back. It is irrelevant whether you insured the item. I get a laugh out of sellers with the insurance statement, that they won't be responsible. If you use paypal and DC shows not delivered, you bet they are responsible!

As for myself I take responsibility for an item if its not delivered and I return the full money to the buyer without them having to make a claim against me. I feel that is the right thing to do.
I also personally pay for insurance on expensive items just to cover myself in case an item gets lost.
Large companies pay a blanket insurance policy so when items don't arrive they have no problem about refunding your purchase price.

For some unknown reason Priorty has been taking a long time lately.Maybe it's cause of all the storms and Holiday on top of them. I'd wait till the last minute to file a item not recieved notice through Paypal. It sounds like she has mailed it but don't wait over the 45 day cut off.

I will file paypal complaint now ,if she has mailed the item, the usps tracking would say it has left her post office.

the usps tracking would say it has left her post office.
Not always, especially if the item was picked up at her home and not taken to the post office. I just had a priority package take almost three weeks to arrive. They do go astray sometimes and end up enroute to the wrong post offices. I'd do as toasted suggested.

This is why you do not mail packages with DC from your home or drop them off at the post office. If you want the protection you take the time to hand them to a clerk and make sure they are scanned in. It's a pain but then so is losing your funds on a package that is taking longer than the buyer expected and was never scanned in. Even if it has not arrived yet, PayPal will extended the "investigation" if your tracking number at least shows that it has definately been put in the hands of the post office.

If you print your postage online with dc, the post office doesn't scan it when you mail it no matter how you deposit it into the mail stream. They only scan upon delivery (usually).

Sometimes a package ends up waiting at the post office, though the person never got a notice to come pick it up. When an item I sell is temporarily missing, I always ask the buyer to check at their post office. It's nearly always there, just waiting....

The Child's Dress was delivered today, the date on the shipping label was Oct. 4th......lol
Why it took so long I don't know but I'm really glad to receive it. I guess its good to wait as long as possible before making a complaint with pp
Thank you all for your help and suggestions.
