Does any one know who "RubyStamps" is and why I might have authorized an ebay token on July 18 2005? Was just checking My Ebay preferences (all of a sudden just 10 sold items are showing on my "Sold" view) and thought I would check who had tokens and found this RUBYSTAMPS thing!!
YIKES! I can't seem to revoke this authorization!! What the heck IS IT!???
OMG!! IT's another ebay seller!!! WTF!!!!! I hope they pay my ebay bill too!!!!!!!!! Of course live help isn't live right now!

A quick google search says that Rubystamps is an ebay store. Why you authorized a token I don't know.

Yes I did that Google too - I NEVER would authorize another seller to access my account! This must be a major ebay screw up! And the weird thing is that I can't revoke it!

Whew it's gone now..wonder what was going on! This am I got a notice I had to renew the Vendio token (I just did this a month ago) and my ebay display was VERY weird - I show 200 items and it was showing 10 items...wires must be crossed SOMEWHERE!

i can't remember where it is right now, and it's not under "e" for "emergency" in ebay's alphabetical help index (i just looked), but there's some kind of ebay emergency contact info...that's CREEPY that another seller has access to your account!

That Ruby Stamps got 4900 feedback last MONTH so I doubt they care much about me...but something was VERY amiss! I kept trying to revoke the authorization and it kept coming back!
I have been thinking something is wrong with the way my store is searched lately - I just don't trust ebay search or anything else lately..VERY screwy.
My bill it too big (and I am sure it is small compared to RubyStamps' bill) to even attempt to reconcile it..

I just tried to revoke an old authorization of mine. I got a message that said my changes had been saved but it might take a few minutes for the changes to show up. Maybe that's what happened to you.
But, of course, that still doesn't explain why the token was there in the first place.

Neglus, Did you ever buy anything from Rubystamps? I was looking at their checkout and faq pages and it looks like there's some sort of connection (via ebay user id - but not password) between them and ebay if a buyer uses rubystamps checkout.

Neglus, I read somewhere that the code, coding (??) third party vendors like Vendio, etc. uses on ebay is being upgraded or changed or obsoleted or something,.. so maybe that is where some of the screwyness is coming in lately. Just a thought!

Thanks! I'll bet DH did buy stamps from them - he collects them. I certainly had no idea about the token authorization though. I am going to check it out tomorrow! Doesn't seem right!

I guess it was the check-out that did it - here's the paragraph that explains why buyers have to "verify" (which must actually enable a Rubystamp token) their ebay ID:
"Why does CheckOut ask for my eBAy information?
CheckOut is not asking for anything except for the verification of your eBay UserID. We are NOT asking for your eBay password. During registration with CheckOut, you are asked to verify your eBay UserID so the correct information is retrieved when you click on your shopping cart. This process is required by eBay to make sure you are a valid bidder."
I have serious problems about this being done without my knowledge and under other pretences! Does ebay limit the extent and purpose tokens are used or is a token a token and Rubystamps could basically list and recover my sales data in the same way Vendio does if they wanted?
edited: talk about grammar problems! Sorry for the run-on sentences. I'm in a rush to scan and list European cards this am. I hope you know what I mean.

From ebay's General Announcements (dated 10/18/05): Now Available – eBay Blackthorne (formerly known as Seller's Assistant)
