I received two postal orders from the UK. The letter (from what I can read of it) states "for crochet pattern bid on the ebay internet on 2nd Nov 05." She didn't put her full name and she didn't put her entire address down either. She also didn't put the ebay item number. I didn't have any auctions close on 11/2 and checking the ones that I still am owed money on, none match up. The total comes to 7.50 GBP. I'd like to send the postal orders back to her, but can't read the address completely. She didn't include her e-mail address either.
Any suggestions on how I can try to match these postal orders with the person that they belong to?

That happens to us sometimes ... I would just wait till I hear from someone asking "did you get my payment yet?" ... that's about all you can do ... put it on the side-burner.

It sounds like you may have to play the Wait gameunless she included the return address on the envelope the payment came in.

It's sounds like she placed her bid on 11/2 maybe she wasn't refering to when the auction closed. I hate it when they do this. I often get envelopes with checks in them. No reference number. Nothing.

I found it! Finally ... Now, I have another question: Is it possible to cash these postal orders? They are UK and drawn in GPB. It only totals $13 USD. If so, where can I go to cash them without paying huge fees. I bank with BOA. Is it possible to deposit them for free? If not, then I'll have to send them back to her.

They cannot be cashed outside of the UK. Go ahead and send them back. Get cash and stash it away. Then forget you put it there and have a pleasant surprise somewhere down the line. I just found 50gbp in my carry on bag. I guess I put it there so I would remember to exchange it next ti9me I was in an airport but I had completely forgotten. Definitely a nice surprise.
BTW - you can deposit UK cheques for free (not really free - they figure the fees in to the exchange rate) at BofA.

No Diane, they can't be cashed in US or Canada. We are English, and when we lived in the US for several years, people used to send our kids money orders for gifts, and we could never cash them. When they sent UK cash, it always cost a lot to exchange them.
I had a buyer from England send me $40 US in a cheap envelope that you could see through. No name, not even a return address. I was amazed it even got here, and she was a business woman.
