I just received a "Best Offer" from Ebay. No big deal ,except I don't remember adding that to any of my auctions.

Request was simply for a combined shipment. Not unusal either. I say directly in my auctions that I gladly combine shipments.

What bother me is the guy's buyer ID.
Squatter52. Zero feedbacks though the account has been open since March/05 under a different ID. ID was changed Nov04.

Do I smell a rat, or am I just being paranoid? I don't see a way to respond on a best offer that would hide my email address. (It is the first time I have received one)

I agree, ID history is a flag and likewise the ID itself,"Squatter52"..scammers have a strange propensity for naming themselves for what they really are.
OTH, he's not bidding wildly on high margin items and the two he has history on are similar , modestly priced items...Beer Making...which, at least in my book, gives him some credence *hic*.
I'd respond to him through your Account on eBay and not directly from your e-mail client and see what happens.

Best,
Michael
