Well, I was bombarded with emails containing viruses last night. One bothered me more than the others. This one purportedly came from the CIA. Yes, that's right. Of course, I forwarded it to the CIA. I'm sure this is a major "no-no" - posing as the CIA! What are they going to try next? Here's the email in case anyone else out there gets one:

How funny. Mine was from the FBI. I guess you are an international threat while I am only domestic...

Only affects Windows users. Nothing to see here for Mac users - move along.

p.s. if this were real, the black helicopters would have already snatched you up in the middle of the night for relocation to Gitmo ;-(

I use Windows XP and I did not get anything at all. Have not gotten a single piece of spam mail since I changed to Verizon. Before that I had to delete at least a dozen spam e-mails each day and I always have attachments blocked. Wonder why I was left out.

Post your email address anywhere on the internet and the spammers will eventually get around to you. The spammy attachments all contain Windows-specific payloads that turn your XP into a spam-spewing "Zombie". Much like inserting a Sony Music CD into your PC makes it "rootable" (in the computer sense).

Thanks for the info. Guess I have not posted my e-mail address on anything but secure sites or through e-mail replies on Outlook Express. Will remember to never do so in the future. Also will steer clear of Sony C.D.s as far as my computer is concerned.

Help!! I am being bombarded with these stupid Paris Hilton emails along with the fbi, cia and just about anything else that isn't ebay or personal.
I have never experienced this before. I have always felt safe. I use microsoft outlook.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me? I know that it is too early for two-buck chuck but it is driving me crazy.

Luckily I have not received this one yet but wanted to give everyone a heads up.

Within hours of posting an ad to Yahoo's classifieds, my mailbox began filling up with foreign lottery winner notices.

I immediately pulled the ad and the emails are still drifting in. Its been 3 weeks. Will probably take a while for them to stop.

If I ever get stupid enough to post a Yahoo calssified again, I will only use a Yahoo address and not my server address!

I've been swamped with emails with viruses attached all day yesterday and again today. SBC has stopped delivery of them, but they keep coming. They are W32.SoberX.
