long story made short - my DH ex had us over for Thanksgiving yesterday and I'd like to send her a case of 2 buck Chuck for Christmas. 4 red 4 white and 4 pink if it's 12 to a case. Would anyone care to do this for me please? Shipping to Birmingham AL - don't have the zip right at the moment. Thanks Laura Beth

Can you ship wine to Alabama? Also I do not think 2 Buck has a pink wine. They have Merlot, Cab, Shiraz, Chardonnay, & Sauvignon Blanc. A case is $25.67 including sales tax. If it is legal to ship Alabama, I would do it for you.

You can ship wine to Alabama, but it must be signed for by someone over 21. I know this because I also live in Bham and my sons got me a 6-mo. wine club membership for Mother's Day last year. DHL delivered and I had to sign for it every time. The first time the driver asked me if I was 21 and he was laughing. I would have slugged him, but he was holding my wine!!!

Samar - is this only sold at Traders Joes?
I have a friend who lives in Huntington Beach but is PV from Nov-Feb.
I wonder if there is a way to order it or if it is distributed to other retailers. Never saw it in NC .
I would love to get a case ... it is great wine for the price ($2).

This exclusive with T.J's. I don't know how they do it but I think that the winemaker is buying up surplus grapes in the Napa Valley & that is how it can be sold so cheap. This year was one of the biggest harvest in years.
Where is PV? Is that Puerto Varte?

I've been amused for years that no one wants to say who is really behind Two Buck Chuck.

It's not that hard to figure out.

It's a huge operation famous -- even legendary -- for the quality of its wines, and if they sold Chuck under their own label, it would degrade the prestige of their branded wines.

This way they get to offload lots of inventory and generate some cash.

Bronco Winery is a front, I'd lay money on it.

So if you are buying Two Buck Chuck, you truly are getting one of the world's exceptional values. And by making an accessible entry-level wine that even non-wine drinkers can try, the famous company is growing a whole new class of wine-drinking consumers who just might spring for the branded wines.

It's brilliant marketing.

I'm on somebody elses computer - it won't frigging cut and paste and is overrun with popups and malware. sigh. oh well - I promised I would not TOUCH this computer again...

Google...Bronco Winery. Quote: " Fred Franzi's Bronco Wine Company sold 10,000,000 cases of wine last year. Perhaps half of that total was for the Charles Shaw labels, the "Two Buck Chuck" sold at $1.99 a bottle through the Traders Joe chain."

Is that what you mean Fluffy?

Ok, so what flavors are GOOD?

No. I think it's a front for another producer.

Bronco Winery, the producer of CS wines, isn't a front for anybody. It's owned by Franzia wines, which is an offshoot, but not directly related, to the Franzia box wines company. The company's history is easy to look up....only a mystery if you want to make it one.

Don't you mean 3 buck Chuck? At least that's what it is in Oregon. Does anyone know how much it costs to ship a case? With all my Vendio/eBay problems, I sure could use one now!

One of the "Chucks" took first at a taste competition last year. All I can remember is was in NY and featured primarily wines from the Finger Lakes region. I can't remember the which "Chuck" though.

I have never have tried any of them, as I have never seen it for sale.

The Bronco Wine Company is owned by Fred, Joseph and John Franzia,Jr. and is ranked the fourth largest U.S. wine company by Wine Business Monthly. They produce wines under the Forest Glen, Coastal Ridge, ForestVille, Crane Lake, Estrella, Charles Shaw, Montpellier, Fox Brook, Silver Ridge, Rutherford Vintners, Hacienda, Napa Creek and Napa Ridge brands, among others. Bronco controls more than 30,000 acres of California vineyards and processed about 350,000 tons of grapes during the 2005 season. It will bottle more than 20 million cases of wine this year. The Franzia family has grown grapes in California for more than 100 years.

I know I need to get out more with adults and less with kids. That's obvious here. You are all probably going to think I am way out of it but is there REALLY a brand of wine called 2 Buck Chuck? I thought it was a name you all were using to describe cheap wine.

"2 Buck Chuck" is the nickname for Charles Shaw which is sold by Trader Joe's for $1.99 per bottle, hence the "2 Buck Chick"

We've tasted all the 2-bucks and they're all good. We tend to go with merlot and sometimes one of the whites. (Red wines are 'way good for you, right?!) You really can't go wrong, but if you're near a Trader Joe's, just buy one of each kind and have fun sampling to discover your favorite(s).

Trader Joe's in Maryland does not sell wine. No food store in Maryland can. Boo!

We've gotten wine at the Dollar store that was of higher quality than many french wines that have been touted to us. Ah, driving the California coast and sampling wine. We've bought cases of Stag's Leap Cabernet and Charles Le Franc Late Harvest botrytis wine. Discovered a heavenly jug 'Chateau Ruby' at a small winery on the way to Paso Robles, and choked on dreggy wine at Sterling on our camper trip through the Mendocino valley. Tippled Champagne in Gurneville and garlic wine in Gilroy. More fun than golf.

TJ's in Delaware also cannot sell 2 Buck Chuck. Same dumb reason as Maryland.

Sanmar...Just remember, when you ship wine from California to another state, it has to be shipped through the Sparkz Agricultural Export Quality Assurance facility so it can be sampled and tested for quality before it leaves the state.
