Jack you would love one of the ladies that work at one of the dump houses(a little building at the top of the dump that has the huge green dumpsters) in Bluffton. She collects and saves anything sell-a-ble on her shift all week long and then has a yard sale in Beaufort on Sat. out of two storage sheds .lol she makes more money at the yard sale than at the dump job. I saw one haul from her shift once ,it took two large trucks with the roll up doors to get it all.She had thing like full sets of antique silver flatwear ,crystal, china ...The high end stuff.Makes any eBay seller sick to see the stuff thrown in the dump.I'm glad shes in a spot to save it.I picked up a light bright toy that day cause Amanda wanted it and in the bottom of the box with the pegs was a 10K gold ring (yeah lol) bet they didn't even know that had been thrown out.

In our area, customers (dumpers) are NOT allowed to pick up, or take anything FROM the dumb - bet the workers and county does!

On of the local landfills in MD close to me in PA has a FREEBIE section. If you have something you are throwing away that someone else may want you can stick it in their huge freebie shed. Anything in the freebie shed is free for anyone to take. It is before the actual scales when you enter the landfill. I have picked up thousands of dollars of "stuff" from there over the years. Best item I ever got was a Marshall bass guitar 2000 watt amplifier and double 18" speaker cabinets, looked hardley used and still to this day works great. I have also gotten 5 or 6 sets of brand new car and truck tires there. God, I love that place, think I'll have to visit it again tomorrow

Sometimes we packrats need to declutter quickly i.e.; for a move. I once had so much saleable stuff in the trash that the garbageman didn't have the heart to charge me for pick-up - he made $600 reselling it - that was 20+ years ago!

My mom has a funny 'dump' story: When she was growing up in the 1930's, she had a pair of shoes that were improperly cured and had a terrible smell she could not tolerate. Her mother took them to the dump but placed them near the edge where they could be retrieved by a needy family. Sure enough, they were retrieved and worn by the girl sitting in front of my mom in class. She had to smell those shoes until the end of the school year!

Hey birgittaw. She works at the dump in Bluffton right before the Target store turn off. She hasn't had a yard sale in about a month so I'm thinking she has gone on vacation for the Holidays or has started selling somewhere else that closer than Beaufort. Also there is a Habitat store on the main road between Target and the dump about 3 miles down on the left. They have some super stuff in there . I bought 4 murano old old glass bowls for 5.00 each,I kept those for myself and Jason picked up a full set of Ping eye 2 black dot clubs for 3.00 each.I would say thats a must stop location if your in Bluffton.New stuff everyday.
I went to the Hardeeville once and thought things went a little high ,might be cause I'm so cheap lol. I find much better deals at the yard sales. The one I went to was a antique and collectible sale. The other ones might be better.
There is a new auction that starting up here at the fair grounds . He said they would have 1 auction every month starting after the new year. I'll post the date when I get his next flyer. He also did a storage shed auction last week but we didn't have time to go
