Hello,

I had someone order $4800 of xboxes from Canada. I would not worry about this in the States due to shipping to the correct address. However I have no idea on Paypal and foreign countries. I have shipped in the past, but never with this much money at risk. I would assume Canada is the safest country to ship to and want to know about paypal protection.

I have contacted the person and they answer the phone.

What happens if they try a chargeback and I have confirmed UPS delivery with signature verification?

Paypal said they can only verify certain addresses.

I am guessing not this address due to the fact that my merchant account could not verify it because the bank of the credit card would not verify it.

Western Union will not send more than $500 from Canada to the US.

Any suggestions?

Although PAYPAL changed the SELLERS UN-PROTECTION POLICY to include CANADA (and, the UK), I have yet to get a CANADIAN buyer with a CONFIRMED ADDRESS...

Without a CONFIRMED ADDRESS, you are NOT covered by the SPP!

For that amount of MOOLA, I sure as hell would NEVER accept PayPal

Only method I can think of would be DIRECT TRANSFER from his bank to your bank, after inquiring at yer bank regarding fees for INCOMING (if any)...

For that amount I would ask for a postal money order [international]As they are very safe and you can cash them at your post office at no charge to you.

Well, I'm in Canada, but first of all, what level is their feedback at?

Secondly, $4800 is simply too high to trust for Paypal. I would say U.S. funds international money order; certified bank draft from them in U.S. funds, sent by mail; direct bank transfer, all of these would be more prudent. If they are getting such a good deal on these as opposed to buying locally, then any of those payment methods shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know of any business that would accept such a large order from a first-time, unknown customer without being able to check references, or if not that, require a secure payment method. Just because its eBay and individuals, situation shouldn't be any different.

Yes, INT POSTAL MO's are VERY safe &, that is Ralphie's fave!

HOWEVER, yer local PO is REQUIRED to CASH the MO only if they have the funds on hand...

HAVE FUN finding a PO with $4000 in the drawer...

Yahoo shops often get large order from overseas customers using their credit cards, there are a few things you can do if you want to use your own merchant account-
check out their address, there are sites which will let you do that;call and talk to them;tell them you need to talk to their credit card issuer and ask for the phone number and the dept you should speak to;fax you a copy of their credit card statement.
I would think wire transfer is the best, dont forget your bank will charge you a fee for accepting incoming wire (if your customer has that kind of cash lying around).
If they are using AMEX CARD,you can just call AMEX office.

I would never take a $4800 via paypal or credit card over the internet. First, you are paying something like $140 in fees, which is crazy. Second, too easy to file a dispute and have the buyer win it. I normally don't like wire transfer, but for this amount I would insist on it. My bank only charges $20 for it, much better than $140, plus you can offer $50 back to the buyer as an incentive to do it.
