I know that listings go way down this time of year, but still the listings right now are the lowest I've seen in ages. Seems to me that the numbers usually dip to 11 million before rising again. They were much higher, about 17 or 19?? million, a couple of weeks ago. I'm sure this is partially related to the sign-in problems which *still* *aren't* *fixed*!

Last year at Christmastime, the auction counts dipped to just a hair above 8 million. We've got a couple more days, but I don't think it will drop quite that far this year.

I've noticed a few ebay stores, that usually have a lot of items, that currently don't have any items listed.

Does anyone know if store items are included the Medved item counts?

Now below 10 million:

I don't know for sure, but I'd be inclined to guess that no, they are not included.

I've got around 1500 things in my store that I'm strongly considering cancelling. I just don't want to deal with it for the next few days. If someone buys something tomorrow, and it doesn't ship until Tuesday (Monday's a PO and UPS holiday)), that's a good way to get slow shipping complaints.

You can put a store on vacation for a few days can't you? Anyone know how? Or am I confusing eBay and Amazon?

Yes Replay = go to "manage store" _>related links->vacation settings. There are a number of options available.

"Note: The seller of this item is away until December 27, 2005. You may purchase the item, but there may be a delay in processing your order. Learn more"

Thanks Neglus, that'll do the trick!

The note above appears in every listing in a little yellow box above the listings. You can also put a custom message on your store's main page.

My username here is also my eBay ID, if you want to take a look at my store to see how it looks.

Another option is to just turn off the items entirely for a few days.
