I know there is a way to prevent people from copying photos ~~ but I don't know what it is. I just had a photo copied from one of my auctions and I wasn't a happy camper.

I think I would have to put the additional coding in the html text on Ebay using the Revise Item after the listing is launched. Is that correct and what do I need to do? Thanks in advance.

Here are some JAVA scripts that do it:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript>
<!--
//Disable right mouse click Script
var message="Copyright!";
///////////////////////////////////
function clickIE4(){
if (event.button==2){
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
function clickNS4(e){
if (document.layers||document.getElementById&&!document.all){
if (e.which==2||e.which==3){
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
}
if (document.layers){
document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
document.onmousedown=clickNS4;
}
else if (document.all&&!document.getElementById){
document.onmousedown=clickIE4;
}
document.oncontextmenu=new Function("alert(message);return false"
// -->
</SCRIPT>
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Of course, feeBay's lister may reject the JAVA SCRIPT -- sometimes it does & sometimes it don't!

Of course, the biggest problem is that it is EASY-PEEZY to get around this, by simply...

If they are linking directly to my photo I myself like replacing it with a "monkey porn" photo and then report them to ebay

I was thinking of reporting her, but she changed the pictures after I asked her to. I wasn't even sure if Ebay cared about this. What was even more frustrating was she was mad at ME for being so "mean" and saying I would report her! Go figure.

rsauvehearts,

To be honest any JavaScript to prevent right clicking is a waste of time since every image is downloaded into a user's browser cache on their PC.

From long experience the best protection is to watermark all your images with your eBay ID and website address so if someone is laze enough to steal it, at least you'll get some free advertising out of it. Also you'll get customers coming to you asking about your 'new' eBay IDs (your digital thieves) which helps in tracking them down.

Another benefit - it makes it so much easier to VeRO the thief after they have a few bids. To profit from their theft, I suggest that before VeROing them make sure you:

1) Save their bidding list.

2) Launch your own auction for same item and notify those bidders that a genuine article is available for their bidding pleasure, after digital thief's auction is pulled.

3) Profit from their theft!

Java scripts don't stop the knowledgeable from getting your images as they are downloaded to the Temporary Internet folder on your pc.
You could mark your image with your name or such but that in my opinion detracts from the item and may cover any area someone wants to see. But I am thinking there are more people out there that don't know how to get images other than right click so the script might be enough deterrent to most????

I like mikes4x4 answer if they are linking. I would personally love to do that to some jerk if they linked to an image of mine. Also would like to be a fly on wall when they discovered it.
I remember a post a while back that showed an example of linked images having been changed by website owner to a naughty plus scumbag stealer of images wording or such. that was funny. And seller had not caught it for several days.

As long as the PRINTSCREEN button will save what's on the screen, preventing right-clicking is pretty much irrelevant.

A) Get the image on the screen
B) Press the PRINT SCRN button
C) Load any image editing program
D) Click PASTE
E) Edit, save, manipulate, or use it.

I don't know of ANY way around this.

Hey!

Ralphie speaks Italian too!

According to him, Bart Simpson says: "Manga mi pantaloonettes!" at least once per episode!

Babelfish says: "Kisses my granulosità!"

I think we can probably figure it out from there.

What???!!!

Ralphie said it was the famous Bart saying: "Eat my shorts!"

I told him we should have stuck with Swahili -- at least there's ONE language I learned with straight A's in college!

Kids! Whatcha gonna do, right?
