Thanks Vintage - I removed my old IRFAN and installed this one and now it's a mess LOL!
I remember back sometime ago someone told us that when we save a file in IRFAN we should remember to uncheck the "save original" EXIF or the IPTC box. I set that as a default in my old IRFANVIEW but now don't remember which it was. Does anyone else remember?

I put the new version on my laptop but didn't update the desktop.
It either doesn't have (or I couldn't find the settings) the little arrows at the top of the page to go from photo to photo in preview.
I use that all the time and prefer it to the thumbnail pics the newer version uses so I'm sticking with the one I have.
Neglus, not sure what I did on the desktop but I have all the versions I have ever downloaded available here. When I click on programs/Irfanview I get a list of 5 different ones to chose from.
I don't have the laptop set up that way and after updating all I have is the latest one on that one and so I can't go back to use the others anymore.

Rats - I probaly shouldn't have deleted the old program! I couldn't get the new one to download so I deleted and THEN i figured out that I had to go to IE to download (I think I have downloads blocked on Firefox). This EXIF and IPTC appears in the details of the before you "save" (where you set the % of compression).
Linda - I must have checked (or forgotten to uncheck) something when I downloaded because now the IRFAN red "Roadkill" icon appears in all my folders unless I show thumbnails. Make me nuts but now I view all the images in IRFAN right from the image folder (instead of the default image viewer). I think I am going to like that feature!
