Just curious, I guess. I had nothing ending tonight -- but I always wonder how many people are watching the show AND trolling on their computers at the same time. My hits went up just a little bit--but I have hopes for one of my items ending tomorrow night--a postcard message I got from Annie Proulx (writer of Brokeback Mountain) about The Shipping News. Pretty good timing, I'm hoping!

I've lived all over the country and in my experience only people from Southern California watch the Oscars.........

It's treated the same way Superbowl Sunday is in the rest of the country.

On Superbowl Sunday no matter where you live you have a choice of many parties to go to. Home parties, local bar events.

On Oscar night in SoCal you have just as many places to go. Home parties and local bar events are all the same. Food, drinks and DOOR PRIZES.

As a WAITER in SoCal years ago I'd been invited and gone to many. THEY ALL start with a "you pick em' survey" and the winner gets a prize.

It's a local obsession and the people who go to these things know all about the nominees, even the obscure technical categories.

The Oscars is a long, boring show, who else would want to watch the whole thing......

Who the hell is this guy named Oscar anyway?
