Just got a suspicious email from paypal...the subject is "receipt of you payment" which is grammatically retarded...and the email content discusses that I made a payment that I, in fact, did not make and wants me to click on a link if I did not make the payment. Went right to my paypal account since I have taken a huge 3 month ebay break and haven't even worked..and sure enough, there is no evidence of this payment in my account history. So this is a SPAM right? And they want me to click on the link to give them my information.

I sure wish there was a way that we could do a reject and it bounce back as unknown recipient like the email addy was not existent. I know that Incredimail did or will let you reject mail that sends back a notice of undeliverable mail but don't know if it really works, I had a friend who uses it and had her send me a reject on a test email and sure enough I got unknown or undeliverable mail notice that looked pretty good. Problem is -- Most email you get have returns that are bogus and don't receive the bounce backs. Would be nice if we could flood their in box with reject notices so they know how it feels to get crap in the email in box or even junk folder. Overrun their storage capacity.

The email you received is not spam. It is a phishing, or spoof email. There's a world of difference between the two. Spam will clog your inbox with unsolicited offers of unwanted and unneeded merchandise, much like junk mail. A spoof email, on the other hand, was sent by a criminal and has one purpose, which is to steal from you. Either your identity, or your money, or both.

For some reason my server catches all these phishing) e-mails and dumps them in my bulk e-mail box( for spam) so I never read them - just click delete.
