USPS Insurance no longer supported with the "Stealth" Postage Option
Because of processing issues at the US Postal Service, USPS Insurance can no longer be used when the "stealth" postage option is enabled. Stealth obscures the amount of postage paid and the US Postal Service found they were unable to verify the insurance amount in these cases. You may still use Endicia insurance or other third-party insurance with the "stealth" option. If you would like to use USPS insurance, please turn off the stealth option or pay for the insurance separately at the Post Office.
(this is from Endicia - don't know the "official" USPS but would imagine it's the same MOL)

So it should be the same if you pay postage thru Paypal. What a hassle now if you want to avoid going into the post office.

glassgrl - You use Endicia and use USPS insurance??? Why don't you use their insurance through U-Pic?? It's alot cheaper and claims are handled much faster. Could save you some money and when you use their insurance you can make the postage stealth again

I don't use USPS insurance. I use Endicia insurance or DSI for packages.
I just had to update my Endicia this morning and I noticed that on the automatic "What's New" page.

Ok. As long as you are NOT using USPS insurance you can still do the stealth postage. I printed a bunch last night and this morning using Endicia insurance and the postage is stealth.

I use to use Stamps.com but the fee monthly stopped that trying to cut cost.
Mike4x4 does Endicia charge a monthly charge? How much etc.

Endicia does charge I think $9.95 a month for the basic plan I have. But in the end they are making me about $10-15 a month because I use my PayPal debit card to buy the postage and get 1.5% back on every purchase. So I'm actually getting paid to use their service. Wow, a win-win situation.

Mike,
The Endicia plan that allows you to use the "Stealth" mode is $15.95/month.
We add a buck or more for handling onto each package and the stealth mode - as well as the convenience and the layout/look of our printed lables far exceeds that small monthly fee.
We love 'em too.

Ummmm, I just checked my Endicia account and I am on the Standard Plan at $9.95 and I get stealth postage. However if you go to their website and type in the word stealth in the help search box it tell's you you need the Premium plan. Hmm, maybe I should keep my mouth shut. I'm getting a free bonus

When did you signup? If you are still on the 30 day trial, you are probably getting all the premium options till it ends.

I did sign up less than 30 day's ago. That must be the reason I'm getting it. Oh well, I'll just upgrade the plan at the end of 30 day's. I'll still be making money off the deal in the end and it's SO MUCH faster than PayPal's clunky system, I can print ALL methods of international postage and shoot I even print my envelopes with address and postage through them now. Not to mention I now have my own custom designed shipping labels with my logo on them.
Another bonus with Endicia could be if you wanted to do a Post Card sales mailing to previous customers. Since all the name and address's are saved in Endicia all you would have to do is load up the old printer with post cards, go through your previous shipments and print out a bunch of cards with address's and postage. No more exporting name and address info to another program to do your mailing's.
