Who is our Olympics expert? Was it Dejapooh?

My friend has an Asian Olympics Seiko that he wants to sell but we can't find any info about it. Anyone have any ideas?

It is a Seiko Diashock Chronograph, 21 jewel. Marked Asian Olympics on the back. He picked it up in Hawaii in the mid '80's but he thinks it may date to the 1960's because of something someone told him a long time ago.

Any suggestions on where we look for more info?

The bezel on yours doesn't look like it's black like the one in the auction. I wonder if that makes a difference.

Don't know anything about it but your face is black with the silver surround, probably the right combination and possibly rarer?

Found a great board for watch collectors last night that had most of the info we need about this watch.

http://www.network54.com/Forum/78440/search

This is a very active board. The members appear to be very knowledgeable. Just type in your the last four digits of your model number. GReAT STUFF!

Looks like the 8990 was produced with both a black or a white face and the bezels are interchangeable.

Also according to this website it should date between 1960 and 1967 because of the 7 digit serial number.
