Setting here thinking about how ebay keeps shooting themselves in the foot and destroying their site and had a epiphany. Ebay's whole problem in the last year or two has been to many rules and to much tinkering with something that isn't broke. Maybe they should open a whole new site and call it "eBay Classic". Kind of like when Coke realized they screwed up with new Coke and came out with Coke Classic. Maybe they need a ebay classic site with minimal rules, no upgrades and endless pink tinkering. And to keep out the junk sellers make it that you can only list one listing for a like item and not 10 like it is currently to help cut down on the flood of junk. I can dream can't I.

Some of what you say is a good idea. but one thing is a bad idea. For instance you say:.
{{{ only list one listing for a like item and not 10 like it is currently}}}.
I sell rough opal and slices of opal. they all look similar or the same. and have been since 1998. So this is not a good idea for some of us. I am sure there are a lot of people out there that sell a lot of the same articles, who will have the same problem. I hope this rule never happens. On the other hand. i do agree with you about the junk sellers.

eBAY CLASSIC! I'll second that!
Back to the good old days when listings were a dime, unsolds got a second run at no cost, most customers paid promptly and correspondence between seller and buyer was friendly and up-beat -- often lasting over weeks and months.
Any one else miss those great old days?

agate18 - I wasn't talking about items like that. Each stone you sell, though similar is still unique. I'm talking about people that sell import China junk that's the same as everyone else's import China junk. You know the kind of junk I'm talking about. The emergency roadside kit for $5.99 that they alway's have 10 seperate listing's for and 100 different people are selling them.
I also didn't say you couldn't list more than one item in the listing, just that there could be no more than one listing. So Dutch style auctions would still be avialable.
Even a better Idea!!! Do not allow sales on the "ebay clasic" site that do not ship from the US and Canada and ban all China users.

I must admit, i do agree with you on the chinese and the junk. and shipping from china. but allow countries like Australia U.S.A. CANADA.

Gosh now we got classic daydreaming about himself. LOl I'll go for the classic ebay. Was much simpler to keep up then with the rules. I do like the my ebay stuff but the rules can go.

Great idea!!
I wished for a long time now that ebay would open an "Ebay Antiques & Collectibles" - something like Ebay Motors. I think I like this idea more!!!
