Is it time for their quarterly reports yet?

Paloma, I do not think it is the quarterly report as much as the system problems they have been having the last few weeks. SEARCH is still screwed up and causing listings to play hide and seek.

Quarterly report is done - ebay posted earnings in excess of predictions - stock is up.

Without the marketing dept attracting buyers to ebay, I kind of think ebay shoots itself in the foot with these promotions.

You have one week in which people spend their money on big ticket items, and then are tapped out until the next paycheck.

Without consistancy to the listings (quanity and quality), websurfers will not spend time surfing ebay, and move on to other things.

Anyhow, I'd expect sales to be slow the next few weeks starting a week after the 20 cent day, as it usually is after these special promotion days.

It's late. I think I'd be more happy about a 20-cent Listing Day, but I'm not. Maybe I'll fell better about it in the morning.

You know it's not really a benefit if you have to kill yourself to use it. Why can't we get more notice?

I tried listing a few items in eBay auctions (which I rarely do) and ran into so many 'crossed-links' that I gave up. "Submit" would take me to "eBay Home Page", and other unrelated pages. Did manage to get through on 6 new auction listings. That was it for today on eBay...

So hopped on over to Amazon to list books. Love it! So easy to list those countless books over there! Now, just have to figure out a way to store these paperbacks -- with easy access -- until they sell. Any suggestions from experienced book sellers will be seriously considered!

Do re-lists count - or is it just new listings?

Thanks,

Sue

I think it's just new listings though if you use Vendio you can "copy" the item instead of relaunching and I don't think it would "look" like a relist to ebay.

Every time Ebay does one of these, they sucker a bunch of sellers. Why is anyone using relists for this. That doesn't make any business sense at all. List only new auctions. Then use the un-sold ones as relists for possible listing fee refunds down the road. They are good now for at least 9 months and counting, (I began my experiment in January) if you remember to print out your auction listings so you will have the auction numbers. All of my new auctions for this year have been relists that I have edited the item(s) to a different product.

Too bad I was too busy to be behind a computer. I would have listed.

Hi
I relisted auctions and was charged 20 cents and I did new auctions and was charged 20 cents. So I guess it didn't matter if they were relists or new.

Well, it may matter. If you have an unsold auction for which you paid 2.00 to list the first time, for example, and you relisted it at 20c and it sells, you get 20c back, not your original 2.00.

You never get your original listing fee back in a relisting, only the relisting fee if the relisted item sells. So, it you do a relist @.20 and it sells that amount is refunded. If it does not, you pay the 20 cents. If you relisted it @2.00, you get that amount refunded, but if it doesn't sell, you have to pay the $2.00 again. People make the choice which works best for them, to save the relist and do a new auction or to do a relist @.20.

Stone - are you saying that you can relist up to nine months and still get a refund on your relist fee? When did that happen - I always heard 30 days.

If your listing ends without a winning buyer or results in an Unpaid Item (UPI), you may qualify for a credit by relisting the item. If the item sells the second time, eBay will refund the Insertion Fee for the relisting.

General requirements for the credit

* You must relist the item within 90 days of the closing date of the original listing. (Bolding mine -- f.)
* Only the first relisting of an item is eligible. Subsequent relistings of the same item do not qualify.
* Both the original listing and the relisting must be in Online Auction, Fixed Price or Best Offer Only (eBay Motors) formats, not in the Store Inventory or Real Estate Advertisement formats.
* Both the original listing and the relisting must be single-quantity (not Multiple Item or "Dutch".
* The starting price you set for the relisted item must not be greater than that of the original listing.
* The relisted item must not have a reserve price if the original listing didn't have one. If it did, the reserve price you set for the relisted item must not be greater than that of the original listing.
* The relisted item must end with a winning buyer. If the item doesn't sell the second time, the Insertion Fee is not refunded.
* Qualifying Unpaid Items that are relisted and close successfully will receive a standard relist credit automatically if the item is relisted and sells.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm wonder what they mean by standard re list credit? That could mean anything. LOL

I did a few relist since I didn't see message until yesterday afternoon and no other items ready for listing. Figured what the heck if they don't sell at least I don't loose as much. I also on relist don't use gallery so save there second time around. Depending on items of course but lately it is a crap shoot at ebay getting your items sold. I use to have 100% sell through now I am lucky to have 30% and that sucks big time. Fact is I have been thinking of quitting all together it is so discouraging. Feebay makes all the profit now not me, with reduced prices the going rate down and everyone looking for bargain due to economy
