What do you think?? How do you approach listing around Thanksgiving? Are people too busy with preparations to browse and bid. Should we avoid Wednesday and Thursday, then list things to end on Black Friday or will people be out and about at brick and mortars finding the best deals? Any thoughts??
It, Thanksgiving, sure did sneak up on me. It's next Thursday!!

You and me both. Seems like it should be in 2 or 3 weeks???
I guess it will depend on what you sell. I do Antique and collectible so I will pass. I think I may do a few for Monday and Tues and then again for Sunday. My sales are so bad it really doesn't matter.

Yup, Thanksgiving is Thursday the 23rd, a week from this coming Thursday.
I'm starting a bunch of auctions on Thanksgiving night, to run 10 days this time. My last gasp with Christmas decor stuff. I figure a lot of people are home on Thanksgiving weekend, and ending them on a Sunday night will give me another weekend for viewing, too.
But. . . it's always a crap shoot! I've been selling old Mad magazines lately, and all of them sold. The group that ended last night didn't sell at all. Not one. Go figure. I guess all the Mad buyers (mostly guys?) are watching football.

I had very few sales on Monday night, also and I had a mixed bag of all sort of different things. I guess everyone was doing something else.

Strange as it sounds, but Thanksgiving day traditionally has been one of the best days to have listings end. You have your buyers who would normally be getting ready for the after Thanksgiving day sales, purchasing items online. I have had great luck in the past and see no reason that should change now.

I just Googled it (I don't watch the show either) - Season 6 will premiere January 16 2007 (Tuesday night).

Thanks STONECOLD, that is good advice. One year, when I was just starting on Ebay, I listed a bear that was quite valuable (I did not know it at the time). It did not end on Thanksgiving, but the bidding was hot and heavy on that day. I remember running to the computer in between basting the bird to see what was happening on that auction.

Won't everyone be lining up outside Circuit City, Best Buy and all the B&M retailers for the Black Friday specials?
Me, I always wait for the online sales the following Monday...

Thought I was in this thread when I posted my in-put about Thanksgiving Day listings opens/closes, but was in another. Long day! Time to get off the computer!

Most of my products are for women, so I prefer Sundays and Mondays for auction listings closings during the winter months (when I post them). The guys are busy with football, and the gals are on the computer.
Close on Thanksgiving Day? NO! This is a "working day" for the women!
Close on the lazy-dayz following Turkey Day? YES! The guys can rummage through the frig for left-overs when hunger strikes and there's a break in the games. THIS is the gals day-of-rest!

Pat, I agree with most of your list closing ideas except recently Sundays, for me, have not been good for women buyers. There are too many female friendly shows on TV on Sunday nights, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, etc. I have moved many to Monday and Tuesday. Seems to work better.

I skipped this week ... I'm just working on new auctions for the next round. Wednesday seems to be working well for me lately. I used to love Tue. until idol! Does anyone here close auctions on several days like 3 or 4 how does that work for you if you do.
