I note that Tom and Ralphie have been missing from posts on the boards. Is everything OK? Or, am I just missing their posts?

Do ya mean Tom is a Republican and Ralphie a Democrat?...... hmmmmmm
Politics can sure cause divisions!
If Ralphie is down at the RT he may be there awhile. They stay on the same subject forever.A discussion could last for two years and then in 2008 they will start on 2010.
The beat goes on and on and on

Seriously, Tom has been very helpful to me also. I have learned a lot about photo hosting places from him.
He is a very intelligent person. eg-I had no ideal he such a wealth of knowledge about eyeglasses. I learned a great deal from those post about the brimless specs.
My DH had broken two of those type frames, they are quite pricey. His doctor acted as if he was careless, actually though those frames are fragile.
He will be getting different frames next year. His are line less and are trifocals - too much going on for the brimless.
Anyway, I do hope Tom is not having problems managing his pain. Chronic pain can be very depressing. I am such a whust and have a very low pain tolerance. I just could not imagine constantly being in pain.
I do care!

Sorry!
The past three weeks have been depressing...
I lost the only relative who ever cared about me (a very COOL WWII WAC vet elderly spinster Aunt I was very close to)...
Ralphie & I both have developed TERRIBLE TUMMY TROUBLES and I've basically given up FOOD for the rest of my life (LOL!)...
Ralphie had a Dr's appointment & a very "special" exam (Flying Fickle Finger of Fate?) -- tis the ONLY time in his life that he's ever cried at the Vet's! I told him: "Buck up, boyo! Yer a MAN (50 years & oldr) now!" But he didn't seem to appreciate the HUMOR in his dear ole Daddy???
Now I have (next 2 weeks) been scheduled for a CAT SCAN and (under general anesthesia) ye ole Procto-Peek of da Pooper Plumbing and, needless to say (then DON'T say it!) I'm a basket case over that whole schmeer!
This getting OLD crap is for da BIRDS!
What a GREAT home-life we two have now! TWO old bachelor geezers P&M'ing about our ailments...Oscar & Felix doncha know? And FAT-BOY is the neatfreak!
Like I say, SORRY I haven't checked in lately. I've had no ambition about anything.
Tis nice, though that so many FRIENDS here do check up on us -- TIS REALLY APPRECIATED!

tom - I've had the "Procto-Peek of da Pooper Plumbing"
1) Mountain Dew for washing down the sodium phosphate works well - cuts the taste of it. (if they want you to take that. FYI Walmart brand is half the cost of the brand name) (also put the sodium phosphate in the fridge and get it icy cold)
2) The p*sser is the no solid food! I was ready to kill for something to chew on! Made my DH go out to eat so I didn't have to smell it or see it You'll be fighting Ralphie at the food bowl LOL.
3) Wear something VERY loose fitting - i.e. sweat pants or something.
You'll be ok. I had a really nice place where I went and they gave me a sedative beforehand and then woke me up with a cup of coffee in hand.
Girls don't pass gas like guys do - that was the only painful part...afterwards. They kept saying to pass some gas and I'd feel better. Girls just don't! Once I did it did feel better.

ps re: the "Procto-Peek of da Pooper Plumbing"
The GOOD NEWS is that you won't have to have another one for about 10 years unless something unexpected shows up or you have a family history of it.

Tom -- I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. My deepest condolences.
You have lots of people in this forum that care about you. Don't every forget that! I realize that it is just through the internet, but some of us are pretty close to you ... I'm in Winter Haven. If you need a friend, just write to me and I'll give you my phone number. I can yak up a storm these days!
As for the tummy trouble, could it be due from medication? I have GERD and if I take anything that can cause tummy troubles (like ibuprofen), I'm miserable for days.
Again, my condolences on your loss.
Warmest regards,
Diane

GG & Diane & Jane & Everybody Else:
THANKS for the kind thoughts!
DIANE: tain't the meds (I wish!) -- I've been on basically the same family of pain meds for six years & I'm pretty used to the narcs by now (EXCEPT for that horrible PATCH)!
Yes, I have GERD, but that's been very manageable with PRILOSEC, etc...
This NEW thingy has been getting worse over past two years -- TIS a "discomfort" in my lower left abdomen that has become moderately severe over past 3 months...
Basically, I can't eat ANYTHING anymore except for (oddly) PEANUT BUTTER on TOAST...
Wierd, huh?

Tom - sorry to hear about your loss! Tough time of year (is there ever a good time of year?) BTW - I am also a Floridian who began selling on eBay due to disability! As for chronic pain issues - I was disabled for many years - even in a wheelchair with what was called RSD -when pain was out or proportion to what it should have been! This is due to a severe injury to parasympathetic nerves. I had a nerve crushing injury to a foot. Thankfully I am better now - up and walking and almost pain free - but I do have short bouts of uncontrollable pain! Then it goes into remission again. Only those of us who have been there can imagine how horrid - so my sympathy and understanding go out to you!

Thinking of you and Ralphie, Tom. Chronic pain is the WORST. I have joint pain from my iron overload and am trying hard not to let it run my life. And for you, on top of that pain, you have the pain of losing someone you cared about. I'm sorry to hear that! ~Adele
