I've googled, searched and researched with my glass book but can't find this carnival glass pattern. It's an irridescent platter with wavy edge. It's got pointed pyramid-like hobnails with a large flower (daisy? mum?) on the bottom. Any help will be appreciated...Thanks and Happy New Year!

Here are some online resources I use. Below is just a couple of resources I use as well as my well worn books on depression glass.
I don't believe your pattern is hobnail.

I have the same plate & also know nothing about it. Did you come up with anything?
I'll start looking & If I find something I will post it here.

While both plates are similar, they aren't the same. Top plate is a diamond point pattern.
I checked my reference books and didn't find any matches, which leads me to believe they are both contemporary.

max, pmelcher is right, the top plate is upside down, mine isn't. That's why it looks different. I think they are the same. The plates are 10" across & are more like a very, very shallow bowl.
max, I'm sure your right they are comtemporary.
Here are pics of mine upside down.

No, max not really. Remember I had the plate in my hand, you didn't. Also I took a picture of the front of the plate blueyes took a picture of the back, I didn't realize that so they did look different. You could only tell they were the same when I posted pictures of the back.

Yup, they're the same. My plate belonged to the mother of a friend of mine so I thought it might be old...but guess even mothers can buy contemporary things...I do think it's pretty, though.

blueyes, I've had mine probably 30 years so at least it's not new, new.
I didn't think it was very old when I bought it because it was so shiny. I just liked it.
Here's another one....on eBay.
The seller says it's imitation, in the title no less, which it is not & she has a very nice old Carnival bowl that she also says is imitation. A little research would go a long way with this seller.

A little research would go a long way with this seller.
I don't know; that seems a bit unkind. She didn't oversell the bowl by making wild claims about rarity or desirability.
Nor did she state it was This Brand Widget while weaseling out of responsibility for authenticity by saying "I'm not an expert on everything, so don't hold me to this."
The kind of underselling she's doing is actually a very effective marketing technique.
When you let a potential buyer "discover" the piece, they're far more likely to invest in it than if you have made claims you can't back up.

She's wrong about the bowl, but it hasn't hurt her in the bid department.
She's lucky to be getting multiple bids, as carnival glass isn't selling near book unless it's rare.
