That tabletop gizmo looks good; it's more expensive than the light boxes some of us have, but then we didn't get lights with it. Is it the H-S catalog you're talking about, or a monthly-type magazine??

By the way, Neva, I tried that quick and easy lasagna recipe and it's Very Forgettable. I've tossed out the recipe already. I'm still planning to send you the vegetarian recipe I have here.

It's not that hard to make your own light box and set up your own lights.

Then again, this isn't that expensive, so it's just a matter of whether you value your money or time more.

Overall, it looks like a nice little setup.

I use a larger version of that tent and quartz lights that belong to my husband who is a photographer. My sister who struggled with her pictures got a set up that looks a lot like that. She got it at Ritz Camera if I remember correctly. The set up along with a camera that can focus close have improved her pictures 1000%. Consider if the tent is big enough for the size of things you photograph.

I would think you could make one out of a translucent lay-in panel for florencent light fixture. Available at any home improvement store.
Corner molding for paneling will hold the 3 pieces together.
Total cost should be less than $10.00

I think its a good size for me. I sell mostly china. I value my time more than trying to put something together that I will probably never be happy with.
What do you all think about the camera??

Can you hold the actual camera in your hands? Even if you plan to buy it online it would be good to go to a photo store and hold it. My friend had me check the specs on a camera she wanted to buy and they looked good. She bought it and when we tried it out the controls butons where so small that neither of us could get the controls to move in the correct direction to change the settings.

Any digital will do provided you RTFM (read the friendly manual) so you understand how to use it. It's just a tool and so only as good as the person wielding it.

The HM flash on/flash off digicam is probably aimed at the lowest common denominator aka "Photo for Dummies" market and not the sales/photo pros that read these messages

I've got this one. My BF bought it for me for Christmas. I have to warn you, though, those lights get extremely HOT! Don't leave them on for a long time.

Be careful, when I clicked on the first link my Norton antivirus said it had blocked a 'worm'. I know you did not mean any harm and have no idea why that happened. It may have been a coincidence that someone tried to get in at the same time I clicked the link.
