Some ditz in November paid about 20 days after auction (shortly after I filed non-pay bidder action) (not expensive item) ...... when they finally paid, like a week later, we sent item...

in mid january!, they posted a "dispute" saying they didn't get item ... i "replied/answered" the 'dispute' saying we 'shipped the item' .... it stayed in 'dispute console' all this time.

I checked on it, in dispute console, at least once a week since then. But I went to check it this week, and it has an early January date posting, showing the FVF not granted because parties completed transaction. ... I'm befuddled.

These disputes sometimes just hang in there for a while.

That is why the feedback system does not work!!!

And that is why someone else will be conned or caught out by the same person. You must neg them. Let the community know who they are and what they do. So what if they neg you. Any one who reads it will certainly understand what happened and keep on buying from you.

I am confused. Did you or did you not get paid? Did you clear the UPI you filed when you were paid (you said buyer paid and you shipped)? Did you have to refund when buyer filed not as received? Did you file another UPI after refunding? I am wondering if the buyer wanted you to clear up the strike so posted not received or did they open a new dispute? Maybe I need coffee (Still brewing)..

she "won" item nov. 14th, ... on dec. 1st i filed NPB ... she answered it, stating she would send a check. received check about 12 days after that... i cleared the NPB and shipped the $10 item to her promptly after receiving her check. ... then, on Jan. 9th, she opened a dispute, stating she had not received the item. i answered the dispute with, "i did indeed ship the item" (but i didn't have any kind of tracking number; just shipped it PriorityMail) ... all this time, the dispute console showed it was waiting for her 'action' as a next step. but now when i look at the dispute, the details show that Jan. 9th, (same day she opened the dispute!?) we agreed to complete the transaction. dispute closed.

i guess i just don't understand ebay's process in "disputes".

neither of us has left feedback for each other on this auction. but she's been a p.i.t.a. from the getgo. (IMHO)

I get it now.

It was actually your turn to do something in the dispute console. Once you received the payment, you should have cancelled the dispute. However, since you waited, ebay simply did it automatically as your time had run out.

Same thing can happen if you don't get paid. You still need to go through the motions as the dispute does not run forever. If you don't file your FVF's after your alotted time, (I forget how long at the moment) ebay will close it automatically as if the transaction was completed.

No reason for a negative though. You were paid. If you are not comfortable, then don't leave feedback, but a negative is not warranted.

I did cancel the 'dispute' (the NPB), the very day I received her check.

It was SHE that opened a dispute, in January.

If she doesn't take the time to close the dispute, it will hang there until it expires, well after 30 days.

I wonder if she thought she was opening a dispute on another item and then when you responded realized it was a mistake and indicated the transaction was completed satisfactorily (or maybe she just found or received the package).

I think the buyer is the only one who can close the "Item Not Received" dispute and evidently she was satisfied in the end. I wouldn't sweat it and I wouldn't leave FB
