Major PITA.
I have a GPM shipment missing. 2 mailed the same day to the same address 2/26. One delivered, one has not arrived yet.
Tracking shows both leaving Miami at the same time. No new updated tracking on the missing package though the other shows delivered.
Called USPS and was told that as of Jan 2006, you are SOL if a Global Priority package goes missing. You can not purchase insurance through USPS for Global Priority. Only option for tracking on international now is Global Express (too expensive) or parcel post insured (too slow).
This totally stinks. I usually insure international with upic but was busy that day and did not get around to purchasing insurance (which is a separate process). Guess it is time to open a DSI monthly account.
Any one have any suggestions how might get USPS to locate the package?

I wouldn't worry too much as nothing really gets "lost". More likely it's simply delayed somewhere along the way. Might have been opened by customs in recipient's country or at their local Post Office awaiting collection. Provided you have a return address on it I wouldn't worry.
It works in tracking international packages, it worked for me when a buy in Brazil made a claim with paypal saying his package never arrived. I put the customs form number in the area for tracking and it showed me when it was delivered and what time of day.
And the number I put in was not even a tracking number, just the customs number on the form
The site I was on was in Portuguese so I had a little hard time translating but I did it with a translation site.
Right after that the buyer pulled out his complaint with paypal.

Thanks for the words of encouragment Agitprop. I usually don't worry about stuff out of my control but every now and then, something comes over me <g>
Tonimar, thanks for the link. It is one that I use often. Package does not show any tracking past Miami. Swiss post has no record of it.
Funny thing. Until about 3 months ago, I was able to see all of the tracking stages for England, Canada, Germany and Switzerland. Could even tell when the package was in customs. Now, once they have left the US port, I do not see any updates until the package has been delivered. And even that is not always the case. Several have been delivered without the tracking being updated.
