Simply take the cash and give them your password and it's a done deal, and THEN get READY for the PROBLEMS you MAY encounter when they ABUSE your Name......

There was a discussion here awhile back about the transaction had to include other items - so that it could be "part" of the business being transfered or sold.
But, I also recall that there was all kind of trouble that followed the buyer - and the seller (a regular postered here at the time) felt bad about the problems the new seller was encountering with eBay. However, the new seller was very understanding about everything and didn't hold the original owner accountable at all, but blamed eBay for his problems.
Gather as much information as possible - based on past experience, rather than conjecture (which is all I can offer) and then consult with an attorney before moving forward. It might also help with getting permission in advance and document that from eBay.
Good luck - and remember to let us know if you decide to do it and how it works out for you.

If I remember correctly, the seller had the transaction blessed in advance by eBay, after the sale took place, Ebay changed its mind and suspended the buyer with the ID.

The last word rumored to have come from eBay on this topic is that if the ID is in the name of an individual, then no, you cannot sell or transfer it.
On the other hand, if it is a business ID and could reasonably be considered an asset of the business, yes, it can change hands when you sell the business, but only then.
If I were thinking about doing this, I would have my accountant set up FluffyTheWonderCat LLC and transition the eBay account to that ownership well in advance of any contemplated sale.

Fluffy's right.
When I sold Cash In Your Closet, all of the assets belonged to Cash In Your Closet LLC, including the eBay ID, feedback, lease, camera, customers, etc.
eBay had no problem with this at the time, and had no problem changing the name on our PowerSellers contact list.
