Stephanie Tilenius
Hi everyone...I'm Stephanie Tilenius, General Manager for eBay North America. I may be a new face for some of you, but I actually started my eBay career in our International business in 2001. I managed eBay Motors for a while, and, most recently, I served four years as VP of Merchant Services at PayPal.
Besides having worked for the company for seven years, I'm also an active eBay member with more than 900 feedback. Like you, I love buying and selling on eBay, and I'm honored and excited to be in my new role as leader of eBay's North America business. Working together with President of eBay's Global Operations Lorrie Norrington and with our Community, I'm focused on making the positive change that will build eBay’s reputation as the place buyers go for value and selection from sellers they can trust.
For my first official Announcement, I'm pleased to tell you that tomorrow, February 13th, insertion fees for all auction-style and fixed price listings will be only 20 cents!
I hope you enjoy the promotion, and I look forward to working closer with you over the upcoming weeks and months.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Tilenius
General Manager, eBay North America

It's sort of a sale, but kind of not too.
It's really a normal priced sale for items under $10 (at least in one week it will be). You should be able to save some cash on listing fees for items priced over $10. The real drawback however is the fact that we are now in the worst time of the year for online sales (traditionally speaking). So it's going to be a crap shoot no matter what you decide to do.

I am not listing. My sales are never good this time of the year and it isn't worth it. If it had been .10, I might list a few.

I think we all knew this would happen. Sales will end during the boycott. I'm sure they did this just in case some sellers where sitting on the fence regarding the boycott.
I'm still going to boycott so I won't be doing this sale!!!

April - It may be a ploy to persuade sellers not to participate in the boycott/strike but the FVF increase is tied to the LISTING date (2/20 and after) and not the closing date. It would be a chance to clear out some of your higher ticket items at the old FVF before the increase if you wanted to participate.

If you are listing with gallery today starting at 9.99 or lower, and your item sells for less than $20, it will actually cost you MORE than if you wait till the new rates kick in. Yes, even with 20c listing fee. So? So use the 20c wisely.

Increased FVFs only apply to items listed on or after 2/20. So if you list today for the 20 cent day you will only pay the existing FVFs.
I guess they gave up sending this announcement to people.

Hmmm, since they are "giving" us 20 cent listings today. I think I will list my stuff for higher than normal. Maybe this will make our new "leader" happy and make Ebay look less like a "flea Market." What's the worst that can happen?? I lose 20 cents!!
And who knows, maybe the items will sell for more than usual!!
