Scot Wingo wrote a blog last week about users who had learned how to hack BM (basically telling users how to manipulate BM)
http://ebaystrategies.blogs.com/

and eBay has responded by disabling BM until they get it fixed (no wonder I am getting bids again!)

I wondered why I am doing so well the last few days!

Well, it's enabled again, at least in my category. My sort preference of ending soonest mysteriously reverted back to best match.

This is a nightmare! I do not understand why one seller with 100% feedback who has listings ending in 4 hours is consistently buried in the middle, while another, whose listings also end in 4 hours, has her listings consistently at the top. She uses a few garbage words in her title - words that don't help buyers find the items they're looking for, but which I suspect aid in her ranking. I hate to stoop that low but I may have to try it.

It seems that Best Match is penalizing sellers that have a high percent of the total sale price go towards shipping, even when the shipping is reasonable. A seller who is selling at item for $1 with $3 shipping is ranked way lower than a seller who is selling the same item for $5 with $3 shipping.

if you are not keyword spamming, and it is allowed by eBay, it's not stooping low. It's business. There's nothing wrong with that.

You're right,Zippy. It does make the title less readable for buyers, who may decide to move on to a less crazy venue.Although it benefits the buyers who do it, I don't think it's good for the marketplace and I don't understand why eBay is encouraging it.
