A few days ago I decided to follow sage advice and not even bother to look at the DSR's or Dashboard.
Well..I did. Three days ago I got this big glowing thing telling me that because I was such an AMAZING seller my search standing was raised! My DSR's were 5.0 4.9 4.9 4.7 which is exactly what they have been almost since the beginning.
Yesterday morning after receiving no more feedbacks I was just a plain old STANDARD in search with the same DSR's.
Yesterday evening I received 4 glowing feedbacks and my DSR's were 5.0 4.9 4.9 4.8
so as my Shipping one had increased I was sure it was safe to look at the Dashboard because I was once again AMAZING!
I looked and I am now told that my search standing is LOWERED! I am further told that I have to improve my Selling practices!
Now I am mad as h**l. Who in the blazes do they thing they are tellimg ME how to run my business when they can't even run their own!
My old Cockney Mother-in-law would have said..( please excuse the language) "Cor blimey, they couldn't even run a piss-up in a brewery"!
OK...I'm better now so I am going shopping!
Edited for typo

Mine went from good to standard with no new DSRs or feedback. I am assuming that the free shipping items are pushing my rating down as I can't afford to offer shipping for nothing and if I raise my prices (mostly $9.99 or less) no one will bid. Got us between a rock and a hard place!

No new feedback and my s&h charge DSR went from 4.77 to 4.76 and is now red. I knew it. They're doing this to eliminate some of the discounts they've been giving. That's the only logical answer. So, even though my 4.77 (showing as 4.8 last billing period) was good enough to get the 15% last billing period, it won't be this billing period because it looks like they're not rounding up anymore.

I must be missing something. I am a PS and I have never gotten any of these AMAZING emails. I have qualified for the 15% each time.
I, also, do not have the hundredth in my *s. Just 4.9, etc. Am I doing something wrong, or am I doing something right and Ebay is not pestering me??
Also, when do they pick the date that they look at your stars to determine the % discount? It varies each month and does not make a great deal of sense to me (duh, what does). Last month it was on 4/21. Well, today is 5/28 and nothing official yet. What the h@@l is going on??

Cheryl: I don't know if they round up, but I presume so. Easy way to check is to run your discount at either the 5 or 15 per cent and see where the checkmarks are.
I think the red bar means that you are below your 12 month average.
And don't forget unless you have a huge number of feedback/dsr each day when things get added and subtracted given the 30 day window, you can fluctuate significantly. Ie. I had two customers who left low "item as described" -- one piece was broken and I didn't know, the other felt the quality was not "fair" but poor. That brought that rating down. Another bought something I sold as a lamp base, she decided it was a candle holder and I'm sure she didn't leave glowing numbers on that aspect. She is now not on my 30 day, and the rating is back to where it's been for a year.
No emails, just the pop out box that tells you if you're standard, raised, etc. I do seem to notice that as sellers get better overall, those standards will be increased.
That's my take on it anyway -- I'm not getting an ulcer over it, but it's good to be aware. So thanks for the heads up on the 10 item part -- I tend to gang similar items in listing, and will simply have to make minor adjustments there.

Birgitaw...my DSR's went UP and yet they lowered me!
I am back from shopping and do not feel any better!!
Maybe I should LOWER the amount I give to EBay each month in fees to act as 'Just a Venue'

merrie - are you checking the Seller Dashboard or just looking at the DSR's on your Feedback page? To find the "Seller Dashboard", click on the link in left column of your "My Ebay" page:

thanks neglus, I had bookmarked my "Dashboard" earlier, I guess it was when it was beta. Now on the top of that page it reads, go to dashboard and now I see all the other info.
This is all just soooo confusing.

otteropp, I am a firm believer in shopping as therapy, but if it helps you feel any better:
My DSRs all exceed what they say I need to have as a minimum for raised search placement, but my search level says standard placement.
I could spend half a day on the phone trying to figure out what is going on and arguing with eBay reps, but I just accept that it will be to no avail and have chosen to ignore it as much as I can.
I also figure (hope!) that with the way these dashboard ratings are changing that there are still a lot of bugs...as in "thank you for your patience while you pay to have us screw around with your search results."
I just keep hoping and believing it will all straighten out without my help. Much better for my mental health that way. Almost as good as shopping.

I don't think it's just the DSRs. Do you have calculated shipping or flat shipping? Do you show your zip code or just "Northern US"? Do you have multiple bids, lots of watchers? Do you use the right keywords? If I recall, these are some of the criteria they are/will be using to varying degrees. Do you have one or more "1" or "2" DSRs even though your overall rating may be more than standards?
I'd have more than a beer. Think massive margarita!

Thanks, birgittaw! I'm still at 15%, but that could change at any time.

My dashboard is red flagged as warning that I'm in danger of losing my discount. I took a slam on my "Item as described" because one buyer got a broken item (broken in 5 pieces) and didn't report it to me or want to file an insurance claim. She thinks I broken it sometimes between the store listing and her low ball offer and decided to ship it to her anyway.
Lost 10 years of 100% FB as well.
Yeah this new system is really weeding out the bad sellers - ebay!!!

I feel for you, ladyjewels! I worry about feedback now when I never used to. I can't afford to be reduced in the searches. Legally, I think eBay is pushing the envelope. I've been hanging out at the feedback board on eBay just to add the troublemakers to my BBL. I've added close to 50 the last couple of weeks. There are buyers who are actually bragging about their "power".
eBay wants to be rid of the small sellers and they want to cater to the big box stores. I don't shop the big stores online and won't shop with them on eBay. I live in the city and have access to most of them. I shop on eBay because of the smaller sellers and the things they sell that I can't get anywhere else.

I have noticed there are a lot more views on my auctions than there used to be. My sales are doing better also.

if you'd list your bbl as a dutch auction, I would be happy to bid on it so I can add your list to mine!
