My daughter in law gave me this piece. It belonged to her Mother.
I have no idea who made it & it's not signed & one thing I'm sure of is it's not new.
I didn't take a picture of the bottom, but can tell you the bottom is clear, not iridized.

Just had to show you this, the new guy who moved in & lives under my deck. Eating cat food & cute as can be. I believe he's a Groundhog & he's very welcome.

What a beautiful piece of glass. I love the colour.
Could it be Northwoods?

How much for Mr. Groundhog? How cute is that?

I don't know otterprop, but I hope it's Northwood. I'm hoping someone here will know who made it.

Yes, a beautiful color, my favorite & that's why Annette gave it to me.

Couldn't put a price on Mr Groundhog

He's afraid of me, soon as he saw me taking his picture he took off, but was back five minutes later.
I had some lettuce & brocolli waiting for him, but he didn't touch it until he finished off dry cat food.

He looks very annoyed with me for disturbing him.

It looks like stretch glass to me. Fenton made a lot of this glass (check out # 230273155386 ) but maybe Northwood did too. Steuben made a glass back in the 20's that looked like this as well. I'll see if I can find the name.

It was called Verre de Soie but I don't know if they made it in this color - more of a white and less stretch glass looking. It maybe worth checking out just in case.
Also try looking into iridescent glass not just carnival glass.
Good Luck

Thanks for the reply ebabe, does look like stretch glass.
I'll do some looking around.

Steuben, now wouldn't that be something, but I doubt very much that it is, in fact I'm sure it's not.

I remember it sitting on a little table in the foyer & when the sun shown on it, it was so beautiful.
When Pat died her daughter asked me what I would like to have & I knew right away what I wanted.

I am assuming that it's 11+" across the widest part. If so, I'm looking at a bowl that was used to make this. It's a bananna stand, made by shaping two sides of the bowl upward.
Made by Fenton circa 1927, color is Celeste Blue. Definetly stretch glass.

glassgrl, LOL, he is pi$$ed because I took his picture. He doesn't like anyone looking at him.

Yes, check in on GH day Feb. 2nd. I think he's Pauxatauny Phil hiding out under my deck.

max, it's 9 x 6 kind of a nice size, not really big.

OT - McJane, is the cat food for your cats or the neighborhood cats? My lil' sis has 4 cats inside and places 3 bowls of food outside. Most of the recipients are neighbors' cats, who get plumper and are extremely friendly. A few of them are homeless cats, one which recently staggered back to her after being hit by a car. She has spent bookoo bucks in vet bills and has adopted the cat. I am surprised she hasn't seen more non-cat creatures around the food - rats, raccoons, nutrias, ground hogs? (She did have a rat problem a while back because of the unsecured bird food she stored in her garage. She took it in stride, saying they were much more tolerable than mice because they didn't move as fast. {{sudder}}).

pixia, some of the dry cat food is for my 5 "adopted" house cats, their favorite is canned, but mostly for the dozen or so racoons that are here every night. We go through three 18 lb bags a week & 90% is eaten by the coons the rest by birds, chipmonks, mice & now my groundhog & the fox when he decides to stop by. I sometimes see a black cat & a grey one, but they are not tame. I hope someone owns them, but don't know. They both look well fed & cared for. They will always find food & water here & shelter with blankets in a shed I keep open come winter. I have defrosters in my birdbaths in the winter. When everything freezes it's very difficult for wildlife to find water. Even the deer stop by for a drink.

All my cats needed a home & one has been with me over 15 years. My newest one is Mario who belonged to my friends' sister who died from ovarian cancer. She also had three dogs & her only child, a son, said he would keep the dogs, but not Mario. What a creep he is, he was going to take Mario to the pound. On the day of the funeral I took him home. He's white & yellow with remarkable turquoise eyes & he fit in with the other four right away. He's a lot younger, he's five so he keeps them going with his playing.

I have quite a bit of wildlife around me because I live is the woods & it wouldn't surprise me if your sister had a few coons stop by. They are almost everywhere. Everybody is welcome here even the rats, but never saw one, have seen an occasional possum though. I like your sisters' thinking & what the heck there is room for all of us.
As for my bird seed I keep it inside beside the kitchen door, if I left it outside the deer & coons would finish it off in one night. These coons are very tame, some eat out of my hand. I've never pet one though, not sure if they would like that. I managed to get good picture of a coon that comes early & the fox too & if I can find it I will post it. I'd love to get the whole gang, but it's too dark to get a good shot.

I think your sister is wonderful for showing compassion for an injured stray. That is the kind of pet that will always be special to her. Would that be neglus?

This looks like Stretch Glass. The shape of the bowl is unusual.

Not me - I have *only* two kitties - one from a feral cat rescue litter and the other from a farm. My husband would probably divorce me if I spent the kind of money our "baby" sister has spent on her most recent addition to her cat family.

i always love max's glass research efforts.

max says 11", you say this one is about 9"...

max, since the stretch glass is formed by hand, wouldn't some of them not necessarily be stretched 'that far'?

"wouldn't some of them not necessarily be stretched 'that far'?"
You're right. It doesn't take a lot of stretching to produce that effect.
BTW, thanks for acknowledging that there is some effort involved in answering glass + pottery questions.
