GAWD! Tell me how this improves the buyer experience:
http://blog.auctionbytes.com/cgi-bin/blog/blog.pl?/pl/2008/10/1225066614.html
This new seller (shopit) charges $7.00 to ship a pencil.

Take a look at Sellers' other 2343 multi quantity listings. How many listing violations do you see? (it's a game)

It is rumored that Diamonds don't pay listing fees. I think they assume Powerseller will come with Diamond number of listings.

Heck, any of us could list 1000's of items (such as pencils), so we could get no listing fees. Is this true? Where do I sign up? I want that kind of a deal.

deichen, I think the point is they are probably not paying any listing fees. One of the perks of being an instant Diamond seller.
WE are the ones paying the fees so ebay can bring more of these big sellers on board.
That is insulting enough in its own right but the real insult is how we are being penalized with the new DSR system and these Diamond sellers will be immune.
Power sellers who were qualifying for the monthly discounts are now losing their discounts because of buyers who think a .50 handling charge is too much. Then eBay courts these Diamond sellers who charge high shipping and give them free reign to further alienate buyers.

Ltray,
So does that mean that if any of us could list enough items, we would pay NO listing fees? Do they have to pay a store fee or is that free too? I have waaaaaay more feedback than 2!

I think the Diamond Powerseller is an invitation only club to businesses that already have a web presence.

What are the requirements and benefits for the new PowerSeller Diamond level?
Requirements:
To qualify for the Diamond level, a seller must meet one of two average minimum **** SALES **** requirements:
Three month minimum: $500,000 in sales or 50,000 items, per month, for three consecutive months
Annual minimum: $6,000,000 or 600,000 items, for the prior twelve months
Also, the seller must have a minimum 4.8 in all four DSRs based on the last 12 months.
Benefits:
Diamond level PowerSellers get the same baseline benefits as Titanium PowerSellers. eBay may consider alternative fee structures for PowerSellers who meet or exceed this sales requirement and also deliver excellent customer satisfaction with 4.8 minimum in all four DSRs. Consideration for alternative fee structures will be made on a case by case basis. Additional requirements may apply.
Watch for more information on the PowerSeller Diamond level coming soon to the PowerSeller portal.

The two items they supposedly did sell? I can buy both those items at my local Target for much less without shipping. Who are they trying to kid?
Cheryl
Whitman said she and McCain share a philosophy of scaling back the role of government. a point of view partly shaped by her EBay experience. "The EBay model is very Republican in its essence -- it's about making a small number of rules and getting out of the way while not overtaxing the community," she said.

Looks like they charge the same shipping for one pencil or one pencil sharpener? Maybe the pencil shipping is an error.

They have two shipping rates: $7.50 or $52.50, one or the other. Anything too big to ship for $7.50 goes for $52.50.
