I just noticed someone is selling 1800 Forever stamps for less than face value and using the sub-title "Use microsoft live cash back up to $200 off". How do you get the cash back?

I hope you aren't done posting!
I did read that article, Bill. I don't see how it's a bad deal in this case as long as I am willing to wait for 60 days for the discount(those forever stamps will be great deals when they raise the postage in May again).
Do you know the mechanics to get the cash back? I don't "get" it

Bill, I'm sorry no one else responded to your thread. They were all too busy checking their feedback. If you want serious discussion by people in the know, you should join PeSA. Seriously. You would get a lot out of it. There are some stamp guys there too. I post a lot more there than I do here, but you can ignore me.

This pretty much describes the Cashback process:
http://pages.ebay.com/cashbackoffer/terms.html?_trksid=m38
You go to live.com and do a search on something, say, "sterling silver turquoise jewelry". You should get an eBay link near the top with a Cashback logo. Today it looks like Cashback is 25%; I've seen it as high as 30%. Click on the eBay link, it takes you to (gasp!) eBay and now you have 60 minutes to complete a BIN purchase and pay for it using PayPal.
Your Cashback rewards are credited to your PayPal account in 60 days and there are other terms described in the link I posted above.

Oh, and by the way (in case anyone is taking time out from obsessing over feedback), you can actually combine Cashback with MrRebates/BigCrumbs AND (ta-da!) eBay Bucks. It's a three-fer.
Sweet!

Fluff - I did belong to both pesa and ima. I stuck with pesa for a year after they started charging for membership (first year was only $99) but found I didn't have time to go there enough to get my money's worth. (I always am on Vendio because that's where I list). It seemed there were some mighty big egos on the Pesa forums. Has it changed now that they are basically open to everyone?
I can't find the stamps via microsoft live search. I can't use the cash back if I do an ebay search?

I would be cautious of buying large quantities of recent stamps on ebay. Ebay has been an outlet of counterfeit stamps in the last few years. To find stamps though, from live search, search for an ipod or anything else, then click on the discount link (I had to use IE to see it...firefox wouldn't show the link), then once on ebay, you can find stamps. Keyword in the stamp category of face should get you there. I have the rebate showing on live, and I did the search once on ebay.

I think I "get" it now. It doesn't work with Firefox - I don't see sponsored ads when I use Firefox to view microsoft live search but do with IE. I'm off to do some shopping!

Doublepost...ok I bought the stamps (I didn't see the cautionary note about counterfeit stamps until it was too late - how will I know they are counterfeit?
I bought 900 stamps for $369 (a little below face value) and will get $92 cash back. I can wait 60 days for the cash back.

It works fine with Firefox, though I may have to run several Live searches before I get a Cashback link. I don't run IE on any computers here but the oldest and slowest.
You don't have to buy that which you search for. You just need to go to eBay through the Live Cashback link. Same way the affiliate sites (MrRebates or BigCrumbs or ClearanceClarence.com) work.
As far as big egos in PeSA, I think that was mostly in the old days (though that is before my time). I find almost everyone to be helpful and thought-provoking. More importantly, they are willing to share really useful details of their business models. I can't think of anyone who keeps their eBay ID or their website address secret there. In other words, there's a frankness, openness and desire to help improve your eBay and off-eBay businesses that you won't find in the eBay Outlook. There's also access to a lot of insider information.
We're having a webinar November 12 with some of our e-commerce expert partners on "Improving Your Website." There were dozens of people who wanted their sites evaluated. A handful will be picked and suggestions made for improvement. I'm hoping they'll pick mine! The webinar is going to have huge attendance.

I have not seen any specifics about forever stamps counterfeit identification. On the flag stamps which have made their run on ebay in the past, the microprinting (small USPS letters hidden in the design) was missing as well as plate numbers on the rolls.

To create a counterfeit Forever stamp one would have to create engraved offset printing plates just like US currency. The USPS forever stamp has two microprinting security measures: The first is the year date code just to the left of the wooden Liberty bell mast and the second are the two metal Libetry Bell mount points on the bottom of the Liberty Bell wooden mast which contain a microprinted phrase with the year date code in Roman numerals. You will need a very good magnifying glass to see those.

There's been a lot of gold and silver sold on Ebay where this Microsoft cashback offer works out well for both buyer and seller.

I can see how this works well for high ticket items. You can buy things that normally are not on sale (ie apple computers, postage) for 30% off using the credit.
How long will this promotion last?
