I made a PayPal payment just minutes ago and did not see that screen. Are you sure it was really from PayPal?

That wasn't an e-mail. I am trying to log into PayPal. And yes, it is from the secure site.

I just logged into my paypal account Stonecold and didn't get that screen. Maybe you should call Paypal and see whats going on. You may have one of those hijacker page viruses and its directing you some place you shouldn't be. Post when you find out. Scary.

Wow, I just logged in again and this time it went through. I am thinking it might have been one of those phishing things. I am going to change my password now.

Guess this serves as a heads up.

Either it was a scam or Paypal was trying to get you to apply for their credit / debit card and it was an ad for it.

I've had them demand something before when I logged in, I ignored it and it went away.

I am pretty sure that PayPal was hijacked. It wasn't the normal please use this service page that you normally get. In fact, it wouldn't let me past that give me your info page.

I am now again somewhat nervious. On the change your password page, it asked me to confirm both my credit card and bank account. I knew the credit card # but not the bank account (checkbook was at home). So I guessed at the bank # and I was close, but not 100% correct and it took it. Since it took my wrong bank account, I am thinking that the hijacker was still on PayPal and may now have my correct credit card #. I am going to be checking my account daily on that.

This just reinforces how much I hate PayPal. So many hoops to jump through that you can't tell what is legite and what is a scam.

Stone- I don't think PayPal was hijacked. It sounds to me like YOU could have something nasty on your computer. Have you checked for malware?

Like I said before. I was at the secure PayPal site directly via the typed in url. I never use links to go there.

Let's try an experiment. Everyone here try and change your password on PayPal and let us know what comes up on the webpage for changing it.

I just tried to change my password. It says
'Before changing your password, please confirm that you are the owner of this account.' It asks to confirm my credit card #, bank acct.#, and Paypal debit card #. There is no way it should ask for your PIN #. Something is definately wrong there.

I think you have some kind of Trojan, Stone.

Here is a post with similar problem - unfortunately the author did not get back to the forum so they closed it.

"Virus/malware on Ebay/Paypal
Everytime i try and access my ebay or paypal account i get a bogus page from them asking for all kinds of personal information. SS#, checking acct#, Credit card #, PIN, etc. This is not a form from Ebay or paypal as i checked with them. My computer said the other day it detected TrojanFlush.G and Downloader.MisleadApp. I followed all directions and ran Norton with System restore off and also in Safe mode, it doesnt pick up any virus on the scan now. I also ran Spybot, Adaware and Windows Defender. Emptied out my cookies and My temp internet folders. I cannot get rid of this and cannot access either account...any ideas?"

Here is some info about Trojan Flush:

Description:

Trojan.Flush.G has the capacity to modify the DNS server settings on the infected computer resulting to redirection of browser to potentially malicious Web sites

There are instructions for removal. Have you updated your virus definitions and run a scan?

I also got the same response on my home computer as I got from my computer at work. I am convinced that it is a PayPal problem.

I am afraid you are convinced wrong Stone - the person I posted about had a VIRUS - it wasn't PayPal or EBay. You can choose to ignore it or not but don't be surprised if your credit is compromised and/or eBay account hijacked. There are plenty of things wrong with PayPal and EBay but they NEVER would ask for a pin #.

PayPal does ask for account information when you try to change your PW - that is normal. The first page you got, the one in your original post is NOT NORMAL! PayPal needs your cc account number and bank account number to link to your account but no way in he** would PP need or ask for a pin #. None of the rest of us get that page when we log in to PP or EBay and the other person who reported it had a Trojan virus causing it...

Stonecold, when you are getting this screen on both your computers and the others here are not getting it, why are you "convinced that it is a PayPal problem"?

Because ihh got the same page.

Neglus,

You are getting the posts mixed up. The password page didn't ask for the bank PIN number. I would never be that stupid to give out that info.

Stone - the fact that you got the PIN number page in the first place indicates you probably have a trojan on your computer that redirected your PP login to a malicious website that only LOOKED like it was PP.

So now you are getting the PW change page that asks for personal information? That's probably because your request to change your PW didn't go through. You will get that on any computer. Did you complete the Password Change or stop when it asked personal information? The page you are getting now may indeed be from PayPal because you messed with the PW and didn't complete the process or gave them incorrect information. They need to know it's really you before the process can be completed. I think you should call PP and tell them what is going on and work through it.

Have you updated your AV and done a virus scan?

I didn't say the Password page asked for my SS# or PIN or any personal info except for the credit card number and bank account number, just like what ihh wrote in his/her first post.

I did update my password on the 16th and it worked as it should even though I had the wrong bank #. I did receive the confirmation e-mail from PayPal, it had to come from PayPal because it never asked for that info nor did I ever input it. I even logged into the account last night without any problems.

Just updated and ran the anti-virus. Nothing found. Clean computer.

Best is to call Paypal and ask them to look into it.

Well good then. If you keep seeing the page however, something isn't right between you and PayPal. The rest of us (including ihh) don't see the page you are talking about when we try to log in (he/she only saw it when he did the password change test you asked us to try). Why don't you call PP? Maybe PP has singled you out for badmouthing them.
