OMG that was weird! I finally closed down FF, cleared cookies, rebooted and everything is back to normal. My cursor was on the left instead of the right - so strange!

That 'malwarebytes' program that someone else here in the EO forum posted about worked great for me while trying to rid a friends PC of lots of weird bugs that spybot S@D and hijackthis didn't locate.
It's sad that we need so many programs these days just to stay on top of all of these hackers out there nowadays. =(

Neglus, are you being serious or are you joking? Don't mind me, I'm a bit dense today.
Edited to add (OT): Do you think it's safe to start another thread about the mom over on the RT? I was enjoying that thread. I don't want to get into trouble.

I was serious! It was so frustrating! I think I figured it out though - I was on Facebook having followed a link in my daughter's email and that was in Russian (I think) or maybe Kazakh. Maybe they write right to left instead of left to right? I don't know what it was (I was in process of scheduled virus scan when it happened in fact) but it is gone now. I have this "Superantispyware" program running in addition to all of the others and I am running a Malwarebytes quick scan now.
OT - I think the topic itself wasn't the problem on the RT, it was some of the posts of a racist nature that had nothing whatsoever to do with the topic that caused the takedown.

That was it Pixia! I was uploading photos to Facebook - the java one wouldn't work but oddly stayed opened in the bar at the bottom between the "start: and "clock". I couldn't close it but never put two and two together.

If the cursor is flashing to the left of the last typed char, then you might be using a right-to-left language (or script) like hebrew or arabic on a multilingual OS. Or it might simply be a software hickhup...
One of our work computers is set up for Chinese (both varieties) plus Japanese and Korean. It also supports all the Russo variants for dealing with Eastern European sales remembering that around 99.5% of our sales are international.
