Ok - I admit that the hummingbird nest was a bust. This live cam of a bald eagles' nest is MUCH better. One egg hatched yesterday with another very ready (I thought I saw it hatching this am but maybe not). There are frequent views of both parents and of female feeding the eaglet.

Baby being fed right now!

How fascinating...the eagle is sure active this morning.
Keeps wiggling around, I wonder if that means anything!

You have to catch them at feeding time - it really is remarkable how gentle the adults are! The third egg is supposed to hatch any time now.

Here is another eagle cam near you, Otteropp at Hornby island. The eggs haven't hatched yet so not much happening but scenery is magnificent!

Yes, I have been looking at the one from Hornby Island. They try to do one every year.

We have an apartment building about a block from ours that has had a pair of Eagles sitting on the top every day for several months. We have wondered if they plan on nesting up there. It is 12 storeys high so they really get a 'birds eye-view' of all that is happening on the waterfront here.
It is amazing to watch the seagulls who have no fear of the Eagles, they chase them off the roof and over the trees almost nipping at their heels..so to speak.
I find Eagles a little scary looking but my hubby enjoys them a lot. He was a pilot all his life and the last 15 years he was flying the Seaplanes up and down the BC Coastline and took some amazing Eagle photos while waiting for customers to return.

OT: Really looking forward to our trip to Oregon; we leave next Tuesday and will take our time getting to Lincoln City and arrive there on April 5th. It is hubby's 65th Birthday on the 6th so I think I shall take him to the Chinook Winds Casino to celebrate!
Looking forward to seeing you and Pixiamom there.

I am looking foward to it too! We arrive on the 5th and will probably get to Lincoln City on Monday or Tues and stay until Fri or Sat. and spend Easter in Salem. My husband leaves on Monday 13th and we plan on returning to Lincoln City during that week too - not sure exactly what Jane (pixiamom) is planning because her son has school in Portland.

otteropp - sadly I had to cancel my trip to Oregon. We have a medical emergency and will have to leave for the other coast tomorrow. I am so disappointed I won't get to meet you! I hope you and Pixia will still be able to get together!

Neglus, I am so sorry to hear that you are faced with an emergency. We hope everthing works out for the best.

We are leaving here tomorrow morning but it will still be the 5th that we arrive. We are going to take our time through Washington and the Northern Oregon Coast.

We are looking forward to meeting pixiamom but sad that we won't meet you too.
Maybe next time.
