Hello,

Note also that the Vendio customer service department monitors and answers questions in the forum labeled 'Vendio Services' if you ever wanted to get help directly from us.

We do try and come over to this board to when time permits to answer any questions that other users haven't addressed.

As for running into trouble building a listing or template, what part of the process are you at currently that your running into trouble?

welcome and congrats on the switch. once you get used to the system, you will really like it.

i think you've also chosen the perfect time for this adjustment, because it is summer and you can use this time to get familiar with vendio, listing your items, and setting up your store.

it seems many people using vendio aren't online much this time of year, so don't be discouraged by the lack of response. good luck!

Welcome to the board! Many of us are on the "old" Vendio platform so can't help much with technical questions. We do look forward to having new folks join in on discussions here though.

I am in the same boat as you.

I hope and pray you don't get the same results from customer service that I have.

Customer Service I've dealt with (one guy) is just as bad as an automated response: he clearly does not read my emails, and as clearly as I've written my issues down, he has absolutely no idea what they are and won't address them. (i.e....in at least four emails I've mentioned a "FATAL ERROR CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE" problem and he acts as though that part of my email is written in invisible ink...he does not acknowlege it at all!

I've repeatedly asked for a step-by-step walk through on listing an item and specifically asked that he NOT send me the PDF guide available on Edu. & Train. as I read that and it doesn't give eBayers a step-by-step, he finally, after a couple emails of not attaching anything to the email as promised, send the PDF guide that's on Ed.&Train.

This guy is much more grief than trying to use Vendio (as an ebayer and autiva user).

CUSTOMER SERVICE: IF YOU READ THIS, PLEASE CONTACT ME AND I WILL FORWARD YOU THE APPALLING EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE I'VE HAD WITH THIS GUY, WHO AT THIS POINT, I'M SURE, IS JUST JERKING MY CHAIN.

dreambaby77,

Are you still running into this message saying 'fatal error' on the My Items page?
If so, please reply back to that email or this thread to let us know when and where this message appears. Unfortunately this isn't a specific enough message to know what the cause might be without some details to go off of.

If this error persists, try also going to this page in either an up to date copy of Internet Explorer rather than the version 6.0 your using now, or see if switching to the FireFox browser nets the same result - and let us know the result of your efforts.

Sorry to hear of your frustration with the email support you received, I can however guarantee you that the rep that was working with you is one of the most well versed and helpful customer service agents you will ever work with anywhere and hopefully this misunderstanding will become apparent immediately. Simply reply back to the last few emails we sent to you or this thread so we can work out this error message your having and clarify the causes and solutions for our communication issues.

Chris

Chris,

Thanks for your reply.

Apparently the problem was with IE6. Mozilla does not give me the message. Thank you for your assistance in what turned out to be an amazingly simple problem to rectify.

You said, "the rep that was working with you is one of the most well versed and helpful customer service agents you will ever work with anywhere".
I respectfully disagree. He is the poorest customer service agent I have ever worked with anywhere, and having sent SIX emails to him, ending with NO resolution to any of the three issues I detailed in EACH email, assures me that my opinion is well-justified and not simply a snap judgement.

I managed to make contact in several places elsewhere in Vendio, and received a phone call moments ago from a gentleman who provided me an email to reach someone higher up in Vendio in order to forward all correspondence with the CS rep I've had, as well as possibly find resolution.

If, in short order, Vendio can help new users (former Auctiva, eBay users) navigate the process of listing an item in a short amount of time, I will reconsider Vendio. It took me a VERY long time to list the one item that I listed, during which I received various errors but no clear direction on how to address those errors.

For instance, one error was due to the fact that I had 3 of this item to list. Somehow, Vendio read this as a dutch auction, which I didn't want, and I had to poke around awhile trying to find out how to fix that.
One of my original issues was that listing on eBay and having a Vendio store are intertwined on the same page. I don't want a store. I only want to list on eBay and it's difficult to sort the two venues on Vendio.
Auctiva provides a store as well, which I didn't use. I would have had to click a separate link to access store features, and therefore conducted my eBay business unencumbered by addtional issues/features that pertain to the store. This is very confusing when trying to use Vendio.

At this point, it will probably be much less time-consuming and less labor intensive to register with Auctiva, a very simple and enjoyable program to use. They provide good customer service to boot!

I appreciate your taking the time to address my concerns, and wish you the best.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us regarding that issue. I had a chance as well to review the email thread and it does appear to be a simple issue of miscommunication that im sure the manger you'll end up working with you on will be able to easily clarify.

As for the actual issues you ran into setting up your item, the quantity issue sounds like you had entered 3 as the quantity per listing when you simply wanted to indicate that you had 3 available in the core item details and then just needed to show 1 as the quantity *per* listing. (and it sounds like you were since able to resolve that.)

For the storefront, if you (anyone reading this) isn't listing to the store at all, simply set the store info section to say 'not visible in store' and you can completely skip this section when your creating your ads.

We are continuing to focus on making the listing page easier and easier to navigate, while still retaining all of the complex features and tools that makes it more than a no-frills system for those that need it. You may actually notice at the top of the page we just added a new feature to choose between the short and long version of the listing form, to automatically cut out certain fields from appearing on the page (something you have control over by using the gear icon in those sections) - depending on your needs.

If there are any other parts of the listing form we can help clarify for you please let us know, we both want to make sure that users can complete these tasks quickly as easily, as well as continue to update the form to make it as user friendly for all types of sellers.

Chris

I too am finding the more I try to use Vendio, the more confusing it seems (I am a new user here and have yet to list my first eBay item). I am beginning to have serious doubts of using this platform to start my business.

alfassociates,

Re "I am beginning to have serious doubts of using this platform to start my business." Well, the good news is that the doubts probably reflect the fact that you're paying attention. The Vendio platform, while not perfect, is capable of supporting most eBay businesses. There are many options, and I don't believe the documentation is the best.

By way of analogy, I recently bought a Nikon D700. It has taken me weeks to get some idea of how I want to use it, and I'm not an inexperienced photographer, but there are so many options and configuration choices that it can be daunting. I KNOW, however, that it allows me to take photos that I wouldn't be able to with a lesser camera.

Hang in there. There are many people who have built successful businesses on Vendio; you can also.

Good luck.

ajfassociates,

I checked over the listing you were working on and it looks good so far. The only thing that would keep it from being ready to submit is that you had a line of sample data in the 'before description' field when you were testing that out. I cleaned that up for you so the item would be ready to post when your ready to send it up, by using the gear icon in the eBay ad info to enable that section (before description) and simply clearing the line from that field.

Chris

Vendio should be congratulated. While we are noting an increase of questions from Auctiva migrants, there appears to be little migration from Vendio to Auctiva.

Even though Auctiva quotes a lower price than old platform Vendio users are experiencing, familiarity, ease of use, and the excellent customer service from Vendio appears to be the main reason, that Vendio users remain Vendio users.

I am just curious as to what the Auctiva migrants will do in 2010, when their special pricing is due to expire?

Chris,

When I just previewed my item, why does it show $25(Reserve Not Yet Met)?

I do not have anything specifying a reserve amount in my eBay info section!

This is what I meant by Vendio being confusing. I am attempting to create a listing and it is adding things I did not specify!

Also, why do I have both a prefill and item specifics section? Shouldn't they be mutually exclusive? Which should be used to describe the item I am listing?

Hello,

The eBay generated preview is always showing that value beside the starting bid, you can ignore it. The system didn't add anything at all, you just have a $25 start bid as shown and a $72 buy it now option.

You have a pre-fill option and an item specifics option because you can use one or the other or neither, it's totally up to you as the seller.
In your case you have opted to use the eBay pre-fill for this item, as well as some of the custom item specific fields that were allotted to you. If you didn't want to fill out your own custom item specifics after using the pre-fill you certainly can skip over it - it's all up to the sellers personal preferences.

While I work on the listing I like to periodically save my work. When I do this, Vendio closes the form and I have to reload it each time. Isn't there a way to save and keep the listing open.

This is the first Windows application I have used that closes itself automatically when saving.

Hello,

Unfortunately no - we have never created a web based application before that has had a 'save but don't close' option on it. Are you running into issues with your browser or ISP timing out to where you may actually lose your work if you don't keep saving in the middle of working? (I know that can sometimes be an issue for users on Internet Explorer and using a Satellite internet service in rural area's. In those cases I usually suggest writing the item description itself in word or notepad so you can take as much time as you need before going to the web based program to paste it in and save the listing.)
Note also that we will have an offline program that will work with this system in the future for those that would prefer not to work on a web based system.

What? Can you imagine what a pain it would be to use Wordpad, Notepad, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc..... if it closed each time you saved your info???!!!!

Besides, when you reload the listing, you have to find where you were when it saved. Not helpful with long descriptions.

Hello,

If you actually *had* to do that, I could imagine it being a pain, yes. The question is, do you need to actually click to save when your not in fact ready to save the listing?

(again, unless of course your in a position where your prone to your browser timing out or your ISP dropping your connection due to a Sat Dish type service.)

Absolutely. I have been burned before with browser lockups, power outages, ISP problems, web servers problems.

Guess I'm the only one in the world that has these problems though so never mind.

(FYI, Inkfrog and others allow it. Its called updating.)

Never mind.

Hello,

If you "do" decide to make it easier/more intuitive for your users and conform to an established software principle/procedure called updating (I am a retired Unix/WIndows application programmer of 25+ years), please let me know.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on this issue. Please let us know if you have any other suggestions in addition to adding an option to 'save but don't save-and-close' to the bottom of the create listing page.

Note that the whole page was designed to work as it does currently, so for now be sure to make note of how you have your launch profile setup before clicking to save your item over and over as if you have setup your launch profile to 'launch now' - this happens upon saving the item and you could create a situation where you unknowingly keep relaunching new items with partial or incomplete data. (we do however default this field to not launch the item, so unless you have set it up specifically to a profile to launch now you will be fine.)

If you are experiencing frequent system/browser/isp crashes, at least in the case of browser/isp issues anyway, do you believe you would prefer to make use of an offline version of this program rather than using this web based application? (so it behaved more like a locally executed Windows application and not a web based program?)

Chris

Last word on this.

OMG, it is called an UPDATE function. IMHO, any well thought out application on any computer platform has it available to its users, period.

Hello,

Correct, any application should give you the option to update your work if needed.

To clarify for anyone else reading this:

In Vendio if you need to update an item you have worked on previously, open the item you wish to update by clicking on the title of the item or by placing a check mark beside it on the items page and hitting the edit button, make your needed changes, then click the button labeled to update this item with your most recent changes.

Note however that if you have opted to place this same item into your storefront by enabling the 'visible in store' option, the button will actually say instead, as upon clicking to save an item as soon as it's saved and assuming you have set it up to show up in your storefront, it will instantly be available for purchase as soon as you click the button.

Regards,
Chris

FWIW, I never understood why people didn't use the offline version rather than the web-based one. It's easy, very responsive, and network issues are, ahem, non-issues. Additionally, it's very easy to save the listing in a directory tree so that you can find it months later if you get a similar item and want to cannibalize the description. Just my 2 cents.

Does it cost more to use the offline version?, I have been with Vendio for 10 years and probably have a very basic version.

Note that Chris said above they are working on an offline version for the newer release (which I assume I am using) which is not ready yet.
