For those of you in So. CA. take heed. Living in So. Fla., I am used to them, but you don't know what can happen. Keep a watch and batten down the hatches, take shelter and be safe. At least you will get some much needed rain http://www.usatoday.com/weather/storms/hurricanes/2009-08-31-hurricane-jimena_N.htm?csp=34

Southern California is safe--we don't get hurricanes. Southern BAJA California, nearly 1000 miles south and part of Mexico, absorbs the brunt of the storms. Sure, we may get some rain in a few days, but it won't be a hurricane.

the way that twister is crapping out It'll be lucky to sprinkle in New Mexico. CA for sure won't get any, Pacific winds will push whatever is left of it east. Here in AZ we're all a twitter about the possibility of some moisture out of it, having endured the driest monsoon season on record....I'm not holding my breath and I'm on the Mexican border. Still planning my weekend barbecue.
