Ebay cancelled about 10 listings b/c I violated their policy of simply stating eBay's policy. It was maybe 10 listings, and most were actually fixed price items that had been up for almost 30 days.
My listings stated, "Ebay policies state sellers cannot offer alternative payment methods. Winning Bidders can request alternative methods."
I had this in place from the change over many months ago and simply forgot to remove it once the policy started. I guess I got away with it for quite awhile. lol.
I just checked the status of my account and now find that my, "Policy Compliance" is marked Low.
How long does this "low" mark last? It seems like it is pretty common for sellers to make errors that were once allowed, but b/c ebay changed their policy, they are now in violation. It was the first time this has happened on my account, so I figured it wasn't that big of a deal.
It would have been nice if eBay simply sent us an email listing the items in violation and then allowed sellers to edit them within 24 hours. It seems like this only hurts ebay financially when they end listings and give refunds for ending them.

I had something similar happen. I was told 90 days and that it didn't affect my search standings. After 90 days the policy violation still showed an ominous red on my dashboard. I called Ebay - again - and was told it would be on there for ONE YEAR and YES it did affect my search standing.
They couldn't actually tell me what the policy violation was, just that it involved having a certain percentage of low DSR's within one week - I had two problem customers right around the same timeframe and wasn't doing many sales at the time. Apparently, they both slammed me on the DSR's.
That was the last straw for me, and I stopped selling on Ebay full time because of it. After 9 years of selling on Ebay with a total of less than 3 policy violations - to not even be able to tell me what the problem was - I reached my limit.

I don't think that ebay refunds the listing fees for any canceled listings any more.
Caroline - I know what you mean - I feel when ebay made all the FB changes, they took away years of perfect selling for many sellers. Why couldn't they give sellers the option of picking just a year or their whole record.

I checked my account and see the refunds for the listing fees. I was a bit surprised by it. In all honest, removing these 30 day fixed priced items and refunding my fees was like doing me a favor. I corrected the problem, got them relisted and all is good. I basically had free listings for over 3 weeks.
I know I have the lower mark on my policy compliance, so obviously it did affect my account negatively.
It is a bit much that ebay goes out of their way to ding sellers by lowering their search results for something that was a one time problem.
It's not like eBay doesn't ever make an error, like last month when suspended my account for non-payment and I hadn't even received my monthly invoice yet. Ebay hadn't even attempted to charge my account for the fees. I think I received the notice on the 3rd of the month, and the invoice on the 4th or 5th. Their CSR couldn't figure it out either. Just a glitch... but how does that figure into the equation?

I had the same thing happen with a late invoice this month - they suspended my account - I had $5 left to pay on the previous invoice, by the time I received the August invoice, they had cut me off!
