I've been selling full time with two employees since ebay started. The latest changes are going to be the straw that breaks my back. Below is a copy of a note I sent my rep at ebay.
I'm wondering how may people are as fed up as I am.
Jeremy,
Thanks for the phone call yesterday about the changes. You mentioned that a couple of our listings were not in compliance. I would appreciate it if you could forward a list of any that are not in compliance and we'll correct that.
One other point that I would like you to forward up the line about these changes and their devastating effect on small sellers is this. Since we are a consignment business we rely on the dealers we sell for to bring items in and have us list them for us. We have a fee schedule in place that we have not changed for 2-1/2 years. We have absorbed all the fee increases and costs associated with Ebays "policy changes" such as Paypal only . In order for us to stay in business we have found we have no alternative but to increase our fees and pass on all the liability to our consignors that Ebay is dumping on us. I am pretty sure that our consignors will balk at this within the next week or two and we will loose most of the business we have left. It's a trickle down effect of very poor judgement on the management of Ebay.
I see the policy changes as self defeating. If people can not bring their items to a professional listing service because of the cost, many more people will try listing items themselves. People who are not professional sellers that will alienate your buyer base with poor service because they do this "in their spare time". Things will go further down hill for ebay.
don't even get me started on the labyrinth of DSR rules. I just look at the emails I've received from ebay with all the rules and calculations for placement in search, and I just shake my head and wonder at the lunacy of the complexity. Ebay should be making things easier, not more difficult.
Looking forward to the day when Ebay is a historical footnote in my business.
