I don't seem to have much traffic on anything I have listed. BIN or auctions.
Is this the new flooded market place or tax time??

Too many items to wade through.
Strange, when I just checked Christmas Seals in the Stamps category, the old search appeared. There are over 2200 items in the category, only 438 appear in search, and the rest in "stores." When the "Buy It Now" tab is chosen, all 2200+ items appear.
I believe that eBay is still screwing around with search and may even be running tests again.
In the meantime, views and sales are disrupted.

I am not surprised, with sellers listing 100 0.99 cent auctions free. Are they coming up in the regular searches? If so, I think all the increased fees, and supposed increased exposure is a joke!

I still do not understand this logic that non store seller can list 100 99 cents auction free??
What is Ebay trying to accomplish?
May be we can ask sellers of non collectibles, like car parts or electronic gadgets?

I just did a quick count using the "Auctions Only Tab" - there are 139 auctions listed - of the 139 auctions listed, there are 56 items still remaining at 99 cents or lower.
And, as you might imagine, none of those items are worth much more than 99 cents.

hwahwa: I agree, it doesn't make sense that it is non-store owners that are getting the free listings. We store owners are now paying much higher fees each month, but it is the the non store owners that are getting the breaks.
That being said, I have never in almost 12 years listed anything for 99 cents! I have always had the policy that I start my listing at the least price I am prepared to sell for.
What bothers me about the free listings is all the junk that will block the searches of those of us paying higher fees.

most individuals do not have 100 items to list every month,so why offer 100 free listing to them ??
And how much FVF is Ebay going to earn from these auctions?
Ebay must know something we dont know-hordes of sellers who are just waiting for this opportunity to list their treasures and confident they will all be bidded up.

The weird thing is I listed several items at .99 (at first I thought they would be free for me, but since I have a store, NO). These were items that had been listed at modest starting prices, under 10.00 and did not sell, so I thought, give it a try. If they did not sell,I was donating or trashing the items. They are small vintage toys from my mother's vast collections.
I listed 4 items this way, to my surprise, 3 of them sold. 2 of them a few dollars more than my last staring price and one 4 X my last starting price. Go figure!!
I would never list something for .99 that I had paid more for, tried that before and lost that gamble, but you never know what might happen in crazy Ebayland!!

There has been a problem with search for a week or more but it is supposed to be fixed. I had a week with few sales but now I have bids, maybe that was the problem?

I agree with the 99 cents. I have listed items at 99 cents only to see them climb above previous starting prices, sometimes higher than my buy it now price the week before. It happens, but rarely enough that I wouldn't make a habit of it. Most of the time it is something that I am on the verge of tossing or donating.
Here is an interesting posting. It seems this seller hits it on the head, though I'm not sure if I would go this far in my listings. I would think this would scare away a few buyers.

actually, my last response gives me an idea. i will likely always have one or two items listed at 99 cents. i think i may dedicate these listings as 100% donations! that may spurn a few more bids and helps out a good cause.

Dead. This time of the year, people have the double whammy of property taxes and income taxes. 10% unemployment doesn't help either.

In this area 10% unemployed would be a giant step to recovery.
15.2% unemployed in this county and that does not include those that have run out of benefits, and the formerly self employed that cannot find work.

You are right, I have never understood why the unemployed numbers only include those who are on unemployment. When that runs out you are STILL unemployed, only in more trouble with no money at all coming in! I guess there is no real way to count those people accurately but I suspect the numbers are at least 50% more than what is shown.

Although the unemployment rate is not based on a total count, the unemployment rate is a fairly accurate estimate that does take into consideration factors other than just those "on unemployment".
You can read about the Bureau of Labor Statistic survey that is used to determine U.S unemployment rate here...

Well then,it is 15.2% unemployed in this county
drawing State Unemployment aka as signing up. That is a documented statistic. 15.2% according to the Employment Security Commission.
Put any spin ya want ....that is not good
Factor in those unemployed NOT getting a check each week from the state, it is well over 20%
